I feel extraordinarily excited when I think about going to visit one of the honors of Taiwan- the professional kite producer Teacher Huang. Even though we have to go all the way to Sansia to meet him personally, it is just worth it.
Ring! Ring! “Come in!”Mr. Huang greeted us with hospitality. We saw a small pond when we entered the porch, which went with the “Disappearing Forest ”kite, full of the meaning of environment protection. Then we went to the studio where were filled with a variety kinds of kites. There are birds’ back, the dragon and lion dance and the multicolored pyramid, which is so amazing! Among these kites, I like the “Cats of Miluo” the most, because usually when people are drawing cats, they depict their profiles, but Teacher Huang takes their front and standing image which impressed me. Teacher Huang explained us his worked for nearly 5 hours, trying to tell us all these years’ experiences. He took out a giant dragonfly then a 3D green dragon, which surprised us, really opened our eyes! He took the kites apart and then assembled them, each kite represents a different story.
Teacher Huang’s kites have won a number of prizes; even have won the world’s champion. In order to make kites, he became experts of many subjects. He is an expert in birds, mechanics, cloth dying, photography, etc. Have accumulated that amount of knowledge, his purpose is to produce better works. I really admire his spirit.
Flying kites can eventually win him a place in the world. His story encourages us to pursue our dreams. He said: “Dreams drive us to become successful.” I’ll always remember this word and related it to myself. When it was getting late, we have no choice but to leave, I was still pondering that word, for a long while.

"Cocoon" |

We visited Teacher Huang’s studio in Sansia for interview. Teacher Huang is a kite artist and an interior designer. He explained his work explicitly began from the outdoor “Disappearing Forest ”which expresses the concept of forest and afforestation. There are two causes explaining why there are less and less trees, one is that human beings cutting down of trees without restraint, another one is the waste gas that released by the factory kills the plants. So, Teacher Huang made a leave-shape kite, it goes with a small pond, this scene makes people understand the meaning he tried to present.
And then Mr. Huang explained to us the “Cats of Miluo”, ”Watch Out of the World” and “Sustainability”, etc. Among those great masterpieces, what impresses me the most is the huge cocoon, this cocoon is very special, it is like a giant ball about the size of a person entwined with cotton thread, I was thinking that how could a ball which so giant like this fly into the sky? Where to place it? Where to put this? And then Teacher Huang said that every kites that he made can be put in the car and fits into a certain size of box. Wow, I didn’t know that kites are so interesting. Later, Teacher Huang pulled a thread out of the kite, and then suddenly the ball became flat! Having seen videos of Teacher Huang, we understood how do kites fly. In order to fly such a giant kite. Many strings of thread would be needed, so as many people and efforts, this makes me understand that it is not easy to be a kite designer. It takes months to even years to make a flyable kite, the producer has to gather the information, observe animals, drawing the blueprint, heating up the bamboo, twisting the iron stick and coloring. Every step should be taken care of painstakingly, so people should have patience when doing things. I look up to Teacher Huang, and one day I can achieve my dreams.

After viewing Mr. Huang’s website and related news closely, we found that his work exquisite and special. It is hard to imagine how he produced such a huge kite like that. We were desired to see it and want to know how he continues making kites for 30 years. Therefore, after we made the appointment, we went to his studio in Sansia on Jan. 20.
We entered the house of kites. The tour began with the “Disappearing Forest ”kite, Teacher Huang explained his works carefully and passionately, he also answered many questions asked by us, it was ended until 7 p.m. at night. Teacher Huang’s is a kite producer and interior designer. He decorates his house with kites. My favorite work is the “Ten Thousands of Nation Flags ”kite which was made of many nation flags, it is 400 m total in length. It is breathtaking. And Teacher Huang’s most satisfying work is the “Cesar’s Vessel ”kite, it is the name of an ancient Rome Vessel which sounds so awesome!
The first time that Mr. Huang saw the kite was when he was 10 years old, seeing his two brothers flew a simple diamond shape kite into the sky, he was fascinated by it at that time. It was also then he tried to hold the thread flying kites, pursuing his dreams.
There are three sentences that told by Teacher Huang that influenced me a lot. The first is that, in the first place, the kites are small, I am big; but after 30 years, I became small, and the kites became big. This feeling really inspired him. The second one is that making kites became a part of his body, which is inseparable. It is clearly seen that he is totally into designing kites. The last but not the least, Pursuing dreams leads to success; he is successful because he has dreams.
We really hoped that Teacher Huang could take us to fly the kites. It is so admirable that he could have won so many prizes not only in our country but also in other countries and even the champion of International Holland Kites Festival by kites.
Through interviewing Teacher Huang, we not only saw many beautiful kites, but also touched by his perseverance and passions. I deeply realize that concentration and hard work make people successful, and those are also the two things that I am going to execute in the future.

Today is the day before Chinese New Year’s Eve, our research team come to Teacher Huang ‘s studio and house in Sansia. Teacher Huang is a well-known kite producer, and I am so excited to see his works.
As entering the house, we saw Teacher Huang who is so amiable. He welcomed us passionately and started his talk. First of all, he introduced “The Disappearing Forest”, he uses abstract lines represents tree ring. This work reminds people it is time to stop chopping trees off and to protect the ecology on the earth. Next, Teacher Huang introduced “Cats of Miluo”, ”Watch Out of the World”, “Sustainability”, “The Fly Dragon”, “” The Bird of Myth” and “My Son”, etc. Each work comes from Teacher Huang’s everyday inspiration, and every creation is so amazing.
What impressed me the most is the giant “cocoon”, it is so big, and people appear tidy beside the cocoon. I wonder how to take the cocoon out of the door? How could it fly? It turns out that it is a foldable kite. Teacher Huang pulled out a thread from the kite and then the kite turned from a 3 dimensional ball into a 2 dimensional image, it was just like playing magic. All Mr. Huang’s kites can be put into a fix size of box, so that he could bring them to many places attending competitions. Teacher Huang told us that it is the result of overcoming many difficulties along his way doing his job.
In order to make kites, Teacher Huang continually improves the material and the color. Because of making kites, he learned some other subjects such as mechanics, esthetics, materials for kites and colors. The kites broaden Teacher Huang’s horizon. I think it is his diligence that made him the kite expert now.
During the interview, I remembered many words that Mr. Huang told us, he said “Dreams drive us to become successful”, “Be the only one is better than the greatest one.” ”it is the thoughts rather than the techniques that change the world”. I think we are going to focus on doing one thing so that we are more likely to be successful. The interview not only makes me realize Teacher Huang’s kites producing experiences but also help me understand the importance of perseverance and dreams.

On Jan 21, we visited kite expert- Teacher Huang Jing-Cheng, I was so excited to visit his studio and house in Sansia.
As we came in the house, we saw fish swimming in the water and some decorations, and after Mr. Huang’s explanation, we knew that those decorations are actually kites! That series of kites are called “The disappearing Forest”. Next, Mr. Huang showed us another work called “The Bird of Myth”. That kind of bird was thought to be extinct, but they were found in a little island around Taiwan, so Mr. Huang called them “The Bird of Myth”. These two kites are expressing the importance of natural environment and beauty, hence it like these two works very much. Later on we saw the seed and cocoon kites, which mean new life. And I heard that this kite would be displayed on the first floor of SOGO Department Store, sharing the beauty of kites to more people.
After Teacher Huang showed us his work, he showed us some pictures and pieces of news, later on, we asked him where did he get the inspiration for creating kites? He said inspirations come from life experiences and personal values. Then we asked him to give a sentence to people who stick to their dreams, he said dream drives people to learn.
I
felt that Teacher Huang is an interesting person. He taught us some knowledge about kites and shared his kites with us, and of course I learned some speaking manners and interpersonal interaction. In addition, I realized that there are a lot of knowledge in making kites and I want to spread it to more places and to more people to enjoy making kites.
