We spent a lot of time studying Buteo Huang and his kites. His story is worth to learn. We turned Teacher Huang’s story into motivational picture book by our own way. And we hope more and more people know Teacher Huang’s kite world. We decided to share our research outcomes in and outside the campus. In our campus, we read the story to our schoolmates and put the story book in the library for more people to check out. In addition, we sent our research outcomes to Sanzan Elementary school in Hualien County for sharing. We got connection and learn with each other through the kite. Our teacher told us the most important thing for doing website research is sharing. We hope this action project be successful.
"A Boy Who Chases His Dreams with Kites"
There was a boy in Sanxia. He lived by the foot of the Yuan Mountain.
Sanxia was a rural village. The kids played in the fields. They were happy running, baking yams and catching bugs.
One day, the boy was out playing with his brothers. He flew a kite into the clouds for the first time. It was a simple kite in the shape of a diamond. He was so excited that he would never forget that day. He was 10.
With a piece of cotton paper, two bamboo sticks and a thin line, the ground was linked to the sky. It was a fantastic feeling watching the kite reaching the clouds.
So the boy started using different materials to make kites in different shapes. He tried newspapers, torn cloths and plastic bags. Unfortunately, those kites did not fly. He failed again and again.
He was disappointed but not hopeless. He kept trying to improve his work. Finally, he made a kite that flew into the sky.
The boy gained strong confidence. He then designed many more kites that could all fly high.
As he grew up, the boy said, “It is my wish and my dream to fly kites.” The teacher laughed at him. The classmates laughed at him. His family and friends all laughed at him. They thought kites were just for kids.
The boy ignored the mockery from others. He decided to chase his dreams in kite making.
The boy studied hard. He entered the nation’s best high school. And then, he went on to study architecture design in college.
Other than school works, he also collected information and books about kites. He did researches and taught himself the knowledge of kite making.
He dug deeply into the style, the color, the structure and the flight theory of kites, hoping that the next kite would always be a better one.
His kites have won many first prizes in international competitions. All people now look at him differently and give him thumbs up.
Now the boy has become a kite expert, and he has created more than 1000 kites.
This is the story of a boy who chases his dreams with kites. He is Buteo Huang, a world renowned kite artist and Taiwan’s pride. His kites have made Taiwan to be seen by the world.
