1.Marketing
aims at getting more people on the platform. What are the
plans? Does the number of users increase accordingly?
If Changan Elementary School wants to get on the platform, the school
can send us invitation. Junyi will send lecturer to Changan
Elementary School to demonstrate the platform or hold a 3-hour seminar
in Wednesday afternoon for teachers. There are topic based
study
as well as district based study for term breaks, e.g. study can be
coordinated by county government to on particular days during term
breaks. We’ve held a district based event which is organized
by
the Taichung city government. The event was held for 4 days
of
which each lasts for 8 hours. Each 8-hour session covers user
training that include advanced feature as well as basic
operations. There are remedial teaching and learning sheet in
the
session. That is a large event organized by the county
government. Teachers who want to use the platform would take
part
in the event.
Marketing has an effect on the number of users. Taichung has
the
highest growth which is the result of the large event mentioned just
now. The number of users has increased right after term
break. There are also self-learner from Taipei City and New
Taipei City lately. Together with Taichung City, they sustain
strong growth.
2.What
if pupils in the rural areas do not own computers or tablets that are
required for accessing the Junyi platform? How does Junyi get
around this problem?
Your family may provide you with computer, tablet or handphone whereas
children in rural areas probably can only get hold of their mothers’
phone. There may not be internet connection at
home. This
is why Junyi wants to provide an on-line education platform.
We
have been advocating the use of the platform during school
lessons. There is at least one computer classroom in each
school
even the most remote ones. Teachers are advised to use the
platform during school lessons instead asking pupil to access the
platform at home. Some pupils will run into the problem of not having
computer, tablet, handphone or internet access. There must be
a
computer classroom in each school which allows us to conduct on-line
education.
3.Taipei
City will invest TWD 1.6 billion in the facilities for information
technologies education. Each Grade 3 pupil will be allotted a
tablet for learning. That will largely help the proliferation
of
the Junyi platform. What do you make of the news?
That is a good news for Junyi. However, that is not on
Junyi’s
to-do list. Junyi Academy is a foundation which is a
NPO.
Your usage of the platform is free of charge. We aim at
caring
for the underprivileged. We would not be leveraging the new facilities
and ask for collaboration. Taipei City owns a lot of
resources. On the other hand, we want to put resources on
those
who need Junyi the most. That news is superb.
Education in
Taipei would get even better. Other cities or counties,
however,
cannot afford to do the same.
4.There
are quite a lot of on-line education platform that aims for
profit. Those who can afford them can access the course held
by
famous teachers. Those who wants freebies join
Junyi. What
do you make of the scenario? How does it affect the marketing
of
Junyi?
We didn’t pay much attention to the scenario. We stay the
course
and aim at “equity and supremacy”. Regardless of financial
conditions, urban or rural area, as long as one wants to learn, we will
put the resources online. He just needs a computer and an
internet. We don’t want to compare with other
platforms.
Internally, we believe that any other considerations are secondary as
long as it does good to the children. It is fine if one wants
to
spend money on the chargeable online courses. If he runs into
problem, it is also fine if he finds answer on the Junyi
platform. It doesn’t matter to us. A lot of people
pay for
after-school tutoring, but they still get on the Junyi
platform.
On the other hand, most teachers endorse the vision of Junyi and adopt
the Junyi platform, they will always be active users. The
preference of teachers is more important.
5.There
are over 6 thousand videos in Taipei CooC-Cloud. We are not
crazy
about them but the cloud reveals that non-profit online courses start
to emerge. Would that affect Junyi in marketing?
Although there are over 6 thousand videos in Taipei CooC-Cloud, but
Junyi’s job is primarily to further consummate the mathematics
course. We can collaborate with other websites on other
courses. I understand that there is so-called collaboration
with
the Taipei CooC-Cloud. Not sure if such collaboration would
affect Junyi. People care more about the operations of
Junyi. We will stay the course as long as it does good to the
children whether a resulting video is on the Junyi platform or other
websites.
