Campus Bulletin Feature Story

1) Groundwork

We shared the story of Taiwan Deaf Women's Basketball Team with other students in our school by making giant posters for the campus bulletin board. We introduced the Ling Yang Team, as well as the book "Rookies, Fly Faster". We hope their story could inspire our peers the spirit of "perseverance and never give up", in addition to increase awareness and concern for deaf sports.

2) Creation

We divided the making of the posters into six steps and carried them out one by one: discussions for the creation of the posters, taking measurements of the posters, purchasing the materials, completing individual tasks, putting the posters together, and displaying the posters.

1. Discussions for the creation

2. Taking measurements

3. Purchasing the materials

Under teacher’s guidance, the members of our group discussed the creation of the posters, including the content to be presented and the steps to complete the posters. In the end, we decided on yellow as the background color and white for the content.   We came to the campus bulletin board with measurement tools and took the actual measurements of the board. After that, we decided on the fonts and sizes for the main title, the subtitles and the characters for the posters.   After taking the measurements, it was decided that we would need two pieces of full-size paper (A0) in yellow and one piece of full-size paper in white.

4. Completing the individual tasks

5. Putting the posters together

6. Displaying the posters

The members of our group completed individual tasks of writing or illustrations separately at home.   After integrating parts of the poster that were assigned to each member, we designed the layout of the posters, pasted the separate parts onto the posters and added the illustrations.  This way, we completed two posters!   After having an earnest discussion on the best ways to present the posters on the bulletin board, we were excited to find that the effects were so great under our joint efforts.

3) Promotions

After posting the posters onto the campus bulletin board, we started the promotions immediately. We formed in groups of two and shared "The Story of Taiwan Deaf Women's Basketball Team" with other students during recesses between classes.

In addition, we also shared the initiatives and preparation process of the posters during our in-class presentations. We hope students would appreciate the hard efforts we made to create the posters. We also hope that more people would become aware of deaf sports through our promotional activities.
