The Donation of Second-hand Things

We are putting the second-hand
things in order.

Every year at this time, Lung Shan Ling Reading Club will donate their second-hand materials to the institutions which need help. We do the same thing in class. Recycling things we don’t need and giving them to the people who need, can also protect our environment. Children in Lung Shan Ling Reading Club make cute posters by themselves to tell everybody about this activity. Everyone helps classify the second-hand materials and finds out if there is anything we need by the way. We can decide how much we want to pay according to our will, so we can take things home and donate the money to the institutions. Doing good things makes everyone busy but happy.

By classifying the second-hand materials, we discover some brand new things. It tells us to think twice before we buy. Donating second-hand materials can not only clean up our houses, but also spread love to the people in need. We’ll work on it together again to help others.

The Time And the Motivation for This Activity

We encourage people in communities to give out their love and resources once a year just before Chinese New Year. Then, the reading club will classify and send the things to places which they need them, including Cih-Sheng, Tzu-ai and Genesis Social Welfare Foundation. Through these activities, children learn to love their families and to care for others with thankful hearts. Also, it’s a good way to achieve the concept of recycling.

The Purpose And the Operation of Lung Shan Ling Reading Club

Every Friday evening, mothers from different families take turns leading activities. Most of the members are teachers or office workers. Sometimes, they will have camping, mountains cleaning, performing in nursing homes and visiting in Cih-Sheng. Everyone here can learn that giving is more joyful than taking.
