Students of Changhua University of Education Being Volunteers in Christmas Eve Party

Tzuchi Club members play as
Santa Claus.

Tzu Chi Clubhad a Christmas party in Cih-Sheng. They played games and sang songs like “The children of Earth”, “Holly Night” and “Jingle Bells” with kids. Every child should go up to the stage and say blessing words to everyone after singing “Holly Night”. We interviewed with this club and took some pictures with them after the party.

We interacted with the children in Cih-Sheng during the party; we were all touched by these kids’ innocent smile. Although they are with disabilities, they still work hard every day for themselves with innocent hearts. It was our pleasure to serve these angels with the volunteers of Tzuchi Club. After watching these volunteers’ funny performances and hard work, we knew that this experience would be our learning model as well as an unforgettable memory in everyone’s mind.

1. Please share the situation of the activity with us.

At first, we couldn’t control both the time and the kids at the same time. But luckily, we finished the activities perfectly and all of the children were having fun then.

2. Why did you have the chance to serve in here?

We are the members of Tzuchi Club in Changhua University of Education and we have done this kind of job since I was a freshman. It was all because of my parents’ encouragement to ask me to join this club. That’s why I’m here to play with them as well as tutor their homework.

3. Are you afraid of them?

Of course not. They are very pure and innocent.

4. How do you feel when facing them?

I always feel happy and joyful when facing them. I used to come here and interact with them when I was in a bad mood. After interacting with them, I always felt much better. Although they sometimes were mad, I still learned a lot in here.

5. Do you understand their condition?

A little bit. Some of them are from single-parent families, the others may come from families which are unable to take care of them. We hope we can give them care and love they need by providing the service here.

6. Do you feel sad when facing them?

We shouldn’t be because we are here to bring them joy and let them forget unhappy things. They should know that there are still many people who are willing to care about them.

7. Have you ever been to any other organizations like here?

We’ve been to the branch of Tzuchi, the recycling station of Tzuchi, the nursing home of Tzushi and so on. I still remembered once I took care of a boy who is with Cerebral Palsy. He could neither walk nor talk, but his parents took care of him with no regrets that moved me a lot. And I felt I was a lucky boy.

9. What do you usually do to take care of them?

We usually play with them and have fun with them to make them happy.

10. Will you come again if you have the chance?

Sure, of course. I’d love to.
