I’m very happy to participate in this project “From Taipei Metro to an Energetic Life”. Visiting the MRT Evacuation Experience Center impressed me most. I experienced how to extinguish a fire correctly with an actual fire extinguisher there. Then, I had a chance to be allowed to touch all DO NOT TOUCH objects in a normal station and MRT train, and witnessed their functions, including Emergency –Stop Button, emergency inter-com, On-board Emergency Phone, etc. Moreover, it’s adventurous and interesting to challenge how to survive and escape from a dark maze of fire and dense smoke in the Smoke Safety Room. Through the process of doing this project, I knew that Taipei MRT is a sound organization. It provides us safe, reliable, and convenient mass transportation services. I hope that the web on this project our team made will let many people see the importance and indeispensablity of Taipei MRT.

I have joined the Project-based club since I was seventh grade. I benefited a lot from each project research I had participated in. The project “From Taipei Metro to an Energetic Life” is my third challenge, and I enjoyed the project proceedings as well. First, I visited the TRTC (Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation) building. From the introduction of the tour guide, Mr. Chang, I could see how honorable he feels to be a member of TRTC, because Taipei MRT provides people convenient, clean, and comfortable transportation services with budget fares. What impressed me most was to visit the MRT Beitou Depot in Beitou Resort. I had a close observation of the major device for controlling the running direction of a train-the SWITCH, the devices and machines that are normally hidden under the vehicle, and the large maintenance equipment. I realized that Taipei MRT can run smoothly due to a sound system and the efforts of all the MRT employees.

Visiting the TRTC (Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation) building, OCC (Operation Control Center), Beitou Depot, and Metro Street Dance Competition was an eye-opening experience for me. I was very impressed by Beitou Depot. While I was having a close observation of the MRT’s maintenance, the extremely loud alarm suddenly scared me. The loud sound is a warning for maintenance workers’ safety. I also visited the warehouse for keeping various machine parts. This project made me get to know more about Taipei MRT; besides, I found that it’s not easy to carry 2 million and 100 thousand passenger trip per day.

In the process of doing this project, I attended many activities related to Taipei Metro, including Metro Street Dance Competition, Beitou Hot Springs Season, the visit to the TRTC building and Beitou Depot, etc. In this project, I was assigned the interview, record and the information organization. The most impressive activity to me was the Metro Street Dance Competition. I interviewed the organizer, the Taipei Metro section manager, participants, a school teacher, and the audience. I learned a lot from participating in this project.

This is my first time to do the project research, and the experience was so special to me. Through the visits, interviews and the records, I got to know more about Taipei MRT. Moreover, I had a close look at the MRT’s maintenance and working. Because of 5800 hardworking MRT employees, we can enjoy the comfort and convenience of Taipei MRT. We should be grateful for their efforts.

I knew nothing about Taipei MRT before doing this project. I thought Taipei MRT is nothing more than a kind of ordinary public transport. However, while I visited the TRTC (Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation) building, OCC (Operation Control Center), and Beitou Depot, I gradually realized that we could enjoy the convenient, clean, and friendly MRT services thanks to the efforts from a group of people in silence, including the MRT station staff, drivers, janitors, maintenance workers, OCC controllers, etc. Besides, with the help of those interviewees, the guidance of school teachers, and all club members’ efforts, we eventually accomplish our project web production.

While I was taking part in these project activities, I was impressed by the visit to Taipei MRT System OCC (Operation Control Center). Actually, people are not allowed to visit it without group applications. I was excited about having the opportunity to get into the center and saw the panorama of OCC through the glass. The OCC staff need to work in shifts in 24 hours, and they dedicate themselves to keep the MRT working properly. Many thanks for their efforts.

Taipei MRT provides us very convenient transport services in our daily life. Our project is to do Taipei MRT research. Visiting Taipei MRT System OCC (Operation Control Center) left a deep impression on me. OCC controls the entire operation of the line, which is computerized, fully automated, and driverless. All built-in safety-orientation mechanism ensures passenger safety. It was amazing to have an opportunity to visit this place and to see how Taipei MRT works. By doing this project, my writing skill improved a lot, and I understood how hardworking the MRT employees are. We should appreciate their devotion to Taipei MRT.

I joined the Project-based club with curiosity when I entered Shilin Junior High School. I felt so much fun while I was participating in this project research. I found that every MRT station has its unique characteristic. For example, Beimen Station is famous for its Beimen Railway historic site, including stone walls, doorways, cobblestone roads, and the Machinery Bureau from the Qing Dynasty. At Jiantan Station, we can go to Shilin Night Market. Get off at the Daan Station; we can take a walk in the Daan Forest Park. Take the Xinbeitou Line to Xinbeitou Station where we can experience hot-spring bathing, and visit the Taipei Hot Spring Museum and the Taipei Public Library Beitou Branch. We can also stroll Zhongshan Metro Mall and Underground Book Street between Zhongshan Station and Shuanglian Station. Beitou Depot is located near Fuxinggang Station. Through a series of club activities, I get to know more about Taipei MRT and cultural features of Taipei City.

My typing has improved since I joined the Project-based club. That helps a lot in my computer class. I was very impressed by the visit to Xinbeitou Hot springs Season with my teachers and club members. It was my first time to interview the passersby. I was also in charge of collecting information about MRT services and Xinbeitou mini tour. I hope that people who travel Taipei will like and benefit by the project web “From Taipei Metro to an Energetic Life” we made.
