Theme: Discussion of the structure Taipei Metro Project
Activities: We decided to do a project of Taipei Metro. We wanted to know what we can do, which place can visit, and what characteristics there are of Taipei Metro. We organized our ideas with mindmaps and decided the topics like the routes, stations, the convenience of traveling with the MRT and special events like Taipei Metro Street Dance Competition and Metro poetry.

◎Interview the Taipei Metro Street Dance Competition

Theme: interview the Taipei Metro Street Dance Competition
Activities: We arrived at the Sunshine Hall early and there were already lots of people there. We interviewd Ms. Huang from Taipei Metro Corporation and then some performers about the Street Dance Competition after enjoying the performance. We also interviewed some audience about the dance competition and their opinions of riding on the MRT. Some of them are foreigners and finished the interview with our teacher’s help. Thanks to the interview this time, we realized the importance of learning English.

◎Participate in Beitou Hot Spring Season

Theme: Participate in Beitou Hot Spring Season
Activities: Many people were already there, waiting to see the Devine Sedan chair parade when we got together at Xinbeitou Station. There was a prayer wall for visitors to place their prayers. There were stalls introducing the hot springs in Beitou and Japan. There were other stalls selling delicious snacks such as fried chicken fillet, bubble milk tea, grilled sausages, etc. We interviewed three visitors there about their opinions of Taipei Metro. Besides, we also visited Beitou Station Building, the platform, and an old train carriage where there were photos and cultural relics from the old time.

◎Promote Taipei Metro

Theme: Promote Taipei Metro
Activities: On the morning of the school fair, our senior schoolmates helped us set up our booth with the posters we designed while others found visitors to fill out the questionnaires. In order to increase people’s motivation to join our event, our school sponsored a five-dollar coupon for each participant. We also printed out some pictures for children to doodle. We were surprised to see many people come to our booth and signed up to follow the metro etiquette.

◎Visit Taipei Metro Corporation, Operations Control Center, Zhongshan Station, Beimen Station and the neighborhood

Theme: Visit Taipei Metro Corporation, Operations Control Center, Zhongshan Station, Beimen Station and the neighborhood
Activities: We met our tour guide Mr. Chang from Taipei Metro Corporation at Shuanglian Station. We walked along the underground street to the headquarter of Taipei Metro Corporation. The exhibition hall on the floor is like a mini metro museum where you can find information and items related to Taipei Metro and the metro system around the world. Then we visited the Operations Control Center near Taipei Main Station. There were many computers and large screens monitoring all the metro network and the center is in charge of handling daily or accidental incidents. We had lunch near Zhonghshan Station and then strolled through the Zhongshan Linear Park. Later in the afternoon, we walked to Beimen Station and visited this unique metro station, a national monument.

◎Questionnaire data collecting and analyzing

Theme: Questionnaire data collecting and analyzing
Activities: The teacher showed us how to use Excel to make bar graphs and pie charts out of the questionnaire result. Afterwards, we used the data to make tables and charts and finally, we added the text descriptions to the graphs. Many of us used Excel the first time and we found it a useful tool.

◎Visit the Evacuation Experience Camp and Beitou Depot

Theme: Visit the Evacuation Experience Camp and Beitou Depot
Activities: We headed to Fuxinggang Station right after we had lunch at school. At first, we visited the Evacuation Experience Camp where the tour guide told us the correct ways to escape from the fire and had us evacuate from a smoky dark room. Later, we visited Beitou Depot and we were impressed by the maintenance work of metro rails and trains. The whole working area was spectacular and everything was in order. The staff was very professional with their work and safety is their main concern.

◎The Holiday Market and the Jazz Plaza

Theme: The Holiday Market and the Jazz Plaza
Activities: Taipei Metro Corporation organized a variety of activities at Zhongshan Station to welcome the arrival of Christmas. Many singers were invited to perform at the Jazz Plaza and stalls selling special food were around. We got to Shuanglian Station in the afternoon and when we walked out of the station, we saw a spectacular Christmas tree standing tall at the linear park. It was so beautiful that we took a lot of pictures. In the evening, three groups of singers put on a great performance. Crowds of people were gathering and clapping hands for them. Some of their fans raised their hand-made boards with lights and cheered for their idols crazily. Zhongshan Station was even more beautiful with lights lit up at night, making the Linear Park dazzling and romantic.

◎Gourmet food tasting in Shilin Night Market

Theme: Gourmet food tasting in Shilin Night Market
Activities: Our club members decided to try the local cuisine in Shilin Night Market after the term exam. We tried super large fried chicken fillet. Later, we tried the stinky tofu, deep dried sweet potato balls, and drinks. As we enjoyed our food, we walked toward Jiantan Station. Looking at the station from the distance, it is really like a dragon boat in the air.

◎Filed trips and Jaunt Planning

Theme: Field trips and Jaunt Planning
Activities: We arrived at Daan Park Station in the morning and we took many pictures with the special designs such as a group of cute little frogs inside the station. Then we walked to the Holiday Flower Market to see numerous kinds of flowers and plants. We also saw people buying seeds, fertilizers, and supplies for planting there. Across from the flower market is the weekend jade market. They sell not only jade but also stones, writing brushes, and paintings. Taipei Public Library Central District was our last stop. There are millions of books there and it is a great place for people to enrich their souls through books.
