Our team
had an appointment with Mr. Chang from Taipei Transit Rapid
Corporation and he gave us a tour guide about Taipei Metro.
Outside the corporation stands the dream dog, Mr. Cloudy,
and across from the corporation is the Jazz Plaza, where
some fun fair and events are held.

The logo of Taipei Metro stands tall at
the entrance of Taipei Metro Corporation. The logo says,
¡§Welcome to Taipei, Welcome to take Taipei Metro, and
Welcome to the beautiful life.¡¨ The exhibition hall on the
1st floor is like a mini museum.

Mini MRT Museum |
There are signboards respectively
introducing the construction process, business philosophy,
different rout lines and the related operation items of
Taipei Metro, for instance, Taipei Children¡¦s Amusement
Park, Taipei Arena, Maokong Gondola, Beitou Resort and the
MRT Evacuation Experience Center. We have learned that when
the first line was opened in 1996, only 12 stations were in
service and the average daily passenger capacity is 40,000.
By 2016, there were already 117 stations, with the average
daily passenger capacity over 2 million and the accumulated
ridership exceeding 10 billion by 2016. The metro service
hours for passengers are 6:00-24:00 with 24hr custormer
service by phone. There are more than 5,800 workers in the
staff, including the station staff, drivers, maintenance
staff, and the operation staff. According to the annual
records and questionnaire surveys, the passenger
satisfaction exceeded 95%, the punctuality of the train
exceeded 99.5%, and the reliability of the MRT system
exceeded 99.99%. No wonder Taipei Metro is often praised for
its safety, reliability and quality.

Milestones reached by Taipei Metro |
The displaying boards show the twenty
years of operational history, the impacts from the floods
and the continuing breakthroughs of Taipei Metro. Books
about Taipei Metro and MRT in foreign countries are part of
the exhibition and there is a resting area for visitors to
enjoy the books. Another amazing display to us is a whole
wall showing models of MRT and HSR trains from other countries
in the world.

Reading books about the MRT |
It helps us not only know the MRT trains
in Taiwan, but also the history and some special features
about the MRT in other countries. For example, the oldest
subway is in London and the largest metro is in Shanghai. If
you have time, come visit the headquarter of Taipei Rapid
Transit Corporation in Shuanglian Station, and enjoy the
stories of Taipei Metro!
