Beitou Depot
Beitou Depot
After visiting the Evacuation Experience Center, we went to
Beitou Depot. Mr. Chang, who guided us around Taipei Metro
Corporation and the Control Center, also guided us this
time. We saw a warehouse for vehicle maintenance parts,
decided to two areas, as we walked into Taipei Depot. One
area is the automatic storage with rails. Enter the number
of the part you need, and the robotic arm can take the
required item. In the other area you need to obtain the
required item by people.

The ground of Beitou Depot is divided
into three color zones. The green zone is the passage for
the staff and visitors. The gray zone and the orange zone
are for train and machinery maintenance and visitors are not
allowed to step inside.Currently, there are five routs and
each route has a depot. The biggest depot, Beitou Depot, is
on Red Line, Neihu Depot is on Brown Line, Xindian Depot is
on Green Line, Luzhou Depot is on Orange Line, and Tucheng
Depot and Nangang Depot on Blue Line. The depots are
categorized as grade 1, 3 and 5. Among them, Grade 5 is the
largest.

Beitou Depot is the 5th grade depot and
it is the maintenance unit with the largest area of 42
hectares. The working area is divided into two: one is for
the general inspection and maintenance of trains and the
other area is for doing more complex maintenance work. The
biggest difference between these two areas is the ground of
the former is flat while the ground of the latter is hollow
down for workers to inspect and repair the chassis. There
are warning sirens in the maintenance area to inform the
current status of the tracks. When the power is on, the
siren goes extremely loud. It is said that all the MRT
trains park here after the operation.
