Project Elements
1、How does our research project fit into the Grade 1-9 Curriculum and the school-based curriculum?
Language Arts /Mandarin
The content of the interview must be shown in text.  Interviewees sometimes used jargon or reserved words that are difficult to comprehend or differentiate.  It was a real challenge for us. The questionnaire should emphasize key points and expressed our ideas.  Good command of spoken language was required for interviews.  One must not stutter or be nervous.
Mathematics
We had to calculate in advance the amount of time, the routes and the transportation fees. The survey analysis requires abilities such as data tabulation, chart reading and interpretation.
Social Studies
Through the visit to Junyi Academy, we get to visualize something that carries really significance to the society.  We feel the open arms and the warmth.  We wholeheartedly endorse the free education platform and the effort behind it.
Arts and Humanities
When I saw the photos taken at the foundation, I realize that good posture and smile are so important.  Some of us didn’t like being photographed and posed funny faces which really look indecent.  Such photos will have to go through further processing before being put on the webpage and the final brief.
Science and Technology
We used computer for many tasks, such as questionnaire and interview transcripts.  Also, we use camera, audio recorder for recording images and interviews which become logs of our study.  At the same time, we made good use of tablets for questionnaire based survey.  Together with cloud storage services, we took advantage of forefront technologies for the study which was somehow in line with Junyi’s delivery model.
Integrative Activities
Everyone had to use its best maneuver and made sure things were done on time and to the right standard.  If one doesn’t do so, the progress of the whole team would have been affected.  For the whole team, everyone had to have a sense of calling and took initiative.
During the course of the study, we put together a lot of elements which make the whole thing fun and comprehensive.
2、What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Cyberfair project?
The most information homework for us is form the “CWSC digital platform”. Using these network platforms in school, we can upload our work and interview information. We can also discuss our thoughts in this place and share all kinds of information. With CWSC digital platform, even if  we could not attend research meetings, we can keep up with everyone's progress.

3、In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Cyberfair project both on-line and in person?
The study has enabled us to learn and participate in a lot of new content and activities.  Our teacher helped arrange the interviews with the key executives of the Junyi Academy.  We got to see how schools promote the Junyi’s platform.  The whole study provided us with opportunity to see and experience in person how Juniyi has evolved into the current state.  Since few schoolmates understand the Junyi platform, we want to take this opportunity to help show the public the beauty of the education platform and how the latter assists us in learning.
4、How did other members of your locality assist or take part in your research project?
During the research of the entire project, we have been helped by many people.
I want to thank those who have given us a hand including Mr Radiant Jiang, Teaching Specialist; Mr Benny Hsiao, Software Engineer and Ms shú-jyuan Jiang, our school information team leader.  They shared with us their experience in promoting the Junyi platform;Mr Ray Lu, CEO; Ms Flora Hsieh, Project Manager and Mr Min-hao Jhong for sharing their first-hand experience in running the platform; and Schoolmates from primary 3 to 6 for sparing the time in filling out the questionnaires.
5、What has been the impact of your project on your community?
We spent time and effort on the study no matter where we were. Weekday or weekend didn’t matter to us.  We initially were not used to such pace. We gradually found that we become more efficient and persistent in seeing it through. Junyi’s concept has been implanted in our mind and we want to do something to help it despite the disruption of leisure hours and learning tempo.
Junyi emphasizes about learning temp. Everyone has his own way of learning. This study enabled us to identify and develop our way and tempo of pursuing common goal together. In so doing, we have strengthened our ties. We got together to discuss the difficulties and progress. We dealt with the difficult interview transcripts. Although there are always all kind of hiccups everyday such as late hand-in, we eventually managed to get around all the difficulties and complete the study.
6、Did you respect intellectual property rights and use references?
Every part of the information on this website came from our own interviews, or our own selections from the student data and photos that the teachers gave us. During the interviews, we informed all those being interviewed that the content of the interview would be placed on the website and asked for their consent. We also informed classmates who provided pieces and teachers providing photographs or video that the content would be placed on a website and asked for their consent.

7、 Discoveries, lessons and surprises
We believe it is difficult to understand Junyi thoroughly. We spent a lot of time in information collection.  We learned that creation of and running such an education platform is very complicated and definitely not a direct translation and replication of the old Khan Academy. A lot more has to be taken into account including budget, human resources, continual improvement of the platform according to users’ feedback.
Our teacher expected us to listen to all the interview records, but the team still considered it grunt work and kept stalling. Information consolidation had to start with exhausting the audio records. Such groundwork dragged on and substantially affected the study. That was a good lesson for the team. Groundwork has to be taken very seriously and one has to take one step at a time.
This study has brought us to a new domain. We discovered a lot of fascinations around us. The Junyi platform is based is upon Khan Academy with further diversification and translation. It provides a variety of resources for the children in rural areas. In every domain there are people who devote time and energy in helping others. I admire them for their devotion.
