Medical Dilemma
According to statistics from National Health Insurance Administration, Taiwanese people go to a doctor 15 times per year since 1980. In comparison with the occident who catches a cold less than once a year, Taiwanese people are particularly vulnerable to flus otherwise they must have consume excessive medical resource.
Why is the number of patients several times higher than world average? Why are people so bound to clinics and hospitals? The answer comes from the system.
" National Health Insurance System" aims to provide patients with the highest level of medical treatment regardless of their financial conditions and has attracted citizens to join since its operation. However, less than two years of execution National Health Insurance Bureau trapped into cash-flow crisis perplexing the staffs. In fact, the “discounts” in medic costs once one joins health insurance makes it no difference going to departments or clinics.
People take medical resources for granted neglecting the fact that they are wasting it rapidly, causing the phenomena of “Medical Dilemma”.
According to statistics last year, 111 hospitals to receive more than 600 million dollars funds, of which 97 have a surplus, including 19 medical centers.
