Mackay Memorial Hospital was founded in 1880,and it is the oldest Western-style hospitals in northern Taiwan. The hospital was first established to save people as well as preach their religion.

Mackay Memorial Hospital Board started to plan for a medical school in 1995 in order to serve people with benevolence, like Jesus Christ. Also, they follow the spirit of DR. Mackay" Rather burn out than rust out." With its clinical basis, abundant research, and teaching ability, the hospital hopes to cultivate professionals in medicine who respect lives and care for the disadvantaged.
