“ You can’t choose where you were born but you can choose where your heart belongs ”

On our way to school, we will either pass by the Post Office on He-Ping East Road or the Chunghwa Telecom on Xin-Yi Road. The green color logo signifying the Post Office is definitely eye catching and offers sentimental memory. While the white and blue color circular logo of Chunghwa Telecom is quite attractive. It has a design of a telephone handset with white and blue lines. It is really interesting, we feel the sign is full of meanings, but simply a vague idea.

We enjoy drawing during our free time. Especially when there is any nice artwork, we will research on the source such as finding out the place of origin. With the help of internet, our commonly seen logos, such as Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Post, the International Commercial Bank of Hsinchu, the International Commercial Bank of China, National Science Council, and National Palace Museum were designed by Mr. Apex Pang-Soong Lin, a professor from National Taiwan Normal University Design Department. Mr. Apex Pang-Soong Lin is a famous Taiwanese designer. He has received worldwide recognition. His designs evolve from Taiwan. Even famous enterprise groups such as Ting Hisin International Group and Mega Success Group invited him to design for them.

Just a few days ago, it was such a coincidence that Yu-Chen’s father gave us a few postcards. The postcards came from attending the lecture. It was a token of warm appreciation and souvenir. It has various styles of Taiwan islands printed on them. Although the colors were only black and white, they were very distinctive. One of the prints on the postcards was Devil’s Ivy and the lines of the leaves were so brilliant and lifelike. The other postcard seems like full of Flames and energy. There is a signature of “Pang-Soong” on the right side of the postcard. This signature led me to exemplify the interest about Mr. Apex Pang-Soong Lin.

After a long summer vacation, Yu-Chen, Tzu-Liang and Yi-Ming, among all three buddies, joined an after-school sports club called, “Iron Kids.” We gathered and met each other on the school campus again. We just completed cycling around the island and competitive training by Sun-Moon Lake. We were preparing for the physical training and prior to climbing the Jade Mountain. After doing thorough exercise and warm-up stretches, we thought we need something static and creative, yet challenging at the same time. Through seeking and asking for suggestions, we finally agreed to participate in the Cyberfair contest. We believe that it should give us an opportunity to bring out what we have learned so far. Thus, we invited other classmates to participate the contest together.

Once we have decided to make the website, begins the urge and challenge. We brought out numerous questions. Which category should we choose? What kind of the topic? After fierce discussion and debate, we still couldn’t obtain a conclusion. Finally we turned to Yu-Chen’s father for suggestions. To our surprise, the first question Yu-Chen’s father popped out was “What is the theme of Cyberfair this year?” At first, we were stunned, but then rushed to surf the internet. It turned out the theme was “showing the vitality and energy of Taiwan.” Immediately, we linked this theme to the Devil’s Ivy and Flames. And our other thought was Mr. Apex Pang-Soong Lin. After Yu-Chen’s father gave us a brief introduction of Mr. Lin, all of us agreed to choose the category of “local leader” and do the report pertaining to Mr. Apex Pang-Soong Lin and his works.

Through numerous requested by e-mail, we finally got Mr. Lin’s approval. Then we began to research for additional information. Everyone was ready to plunge into this meaningful project together.
