▪History

Beipu Old Street used to be the busiest commercial center in Beipu during the Qing Dynasty. Beipu Old Street is 200 meters long and there are 7 historic sites. The concentration of historical sites is the highest in Taiwan. On the old street stand The national monuments Jinguang Fu Mansion and Tianshuitang, as well as the county monuments Citian Palace, Jiangyan Xinyang Building and Beipu Old Street Ancient Well. On the old street, you can try Hakka delicacies, such as “Pomfong tea” which means “Bragging Tea” in Taiwanese, “Leicha”, persimmon cakes, Hakka moon cakes, and Hakka rice food, collectively known as the Beipu Five Treasures.

Beipu Longji persimmons

Beipu Longji persimmons include stone persimmons, longan wood baked persimmons, sweet and sour lemons, and the most special persimmon cream. Because the water is low and the sugar content is high, the sugar will crystallize on the skin of the persimmons when drying the cakes. On top, form a thin layer of frosting.

Longyuan Cake Shop

Longyuan Cake Shop, founded in 1871, has been passed down through four generations, adhering to the business philosophy of quality and inheritance of experience. Homemade cakes include sweet potato cakes, taro cakes, Leicha cakes, bamboo cakes, moonlight egg yolk cakes and various wedding cakes. Traditional Hakka rice dishes include salty rice cakes, red bean and peanut rice cakes. Products with local citrus innovative flavors include tangerine, tangerine crisp, tangerine-flavored rice cake, and barrel citrus smoothie.
