Abalone Mushrooms

Introduction

Obalonus (Pleurotus ostreatus)

Obalonus is also known as black oyster mushroom. It has long been reputed as the marbled meat in the mushrooms world for its exquisite texture and aroma. It tastes differently from other mushrooms. Its texture is tender and its cap resembles the taste of a clam. Just as marbled meat, it is rich in dietary fiber, polysaccharide, amino acid and the protein content it possesses is higher than vegetables, which makes it the best low-fat ingredient. The grayish cap of Obalonus is mixed with golden hyphae; its stalk pure white, its root smooth and its form perfect-proportioned, giving it the reputation of the fine beauty in the mushrooms world.

Common Dishes

Simply by dry-frying it brings out the smell of a steak, such as Lemon Pepper Salt Obalonus. You can also add other ingredients to stir fry it with, such as Stir-fried Obalonus, Loofah and Obalonus Sti-fry and Fried Obalonus with Cream Savory Shallot.

Notes

It is a new variety of mushrooms originally from Japan. Because of its smooth texture and unique aroma, it attracts even people who do not like to eat mushrooms. Obalonus can dispel wind and cold, soothe the sinews and improve the network vessels, lower blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and prevent arteriosclerosis.
