Yi Xuan : Mom, it’s so cold today.  Can we have hot pot for dinner ? 

Mother : Of course ! Let’s have hot pot then !

Yi Xuan : I want to go to the supermarket with you to buy all of the ingredients that I love, mother !

Mother : Okay.  I’ll let you pick !

Yi Xuan : Then I want shrimps, pork slices, my favorite king oyster mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and golden oyster mushrooms. Let’s have a mixed mushrooms hot pot !

Mother : Greedy ! Can you eat them all ?

--In the Market--

Yi Xuan : Mom, there are so many kinds of mushrooms.  Which one should I pick ?

Mother : Pick your favorite king oyster mushrooms then.

Yi Xuan : Yes !

Mother : Have you noticed that there is a king oyster mushroom farm near our home ?

Yi Xuan : Really ?  How come ?  I have never noticed it.

Mother : Think again. On the way home from school, have you seen piles of brown mounds ?

Yi Xuan : Yes ! But I don’t remember seeing mushrooms on them.

Mother : Of course you can’t see them.  They are one of the ingredients to grow king oyster mushrooms – sawdust.

Origin

Eating is a very important part of our lives, and eating hot pot is an essential activity in family or friend gatherings. In an era that strives for eating organically, eating healthfully and without worries meets our demand. Mushrooms, to name a few, are necessary ingredient for hot pot, and just right where we are, there are many mushroom tribes and tourist factories that provide us with all kinds of mushrooms. Taking the kids on field trips to the farms in our community, giving them a chance to be acquainted with mushrooms’ origin and cultivation process, experiencing the hard work of mushrooms cultivation, they gain a profound knowledge of hometown specialty, learn to cherish food and cultivate passion for hometown.

Location Introduction

Central Taiwan covers agricultural counties such as Taichung City, Changhua County and Nantou County. It is Taiwan’s important agricultural area. It locates in the middle of western daily living sphere; thus, its life function and cargo conveyance is of great convenience by using highway, high speed rail, railway and bus transportation. The area is mainly covered by plains and the weather is mostly warm, with rivers horizontally spanning across it, which is beneficial to agricultural development. Therefore, there are many agricultural industry clusters in Central Taiwan, making it national agricultural specialties entrepot.
