Mushroom Tribe’s Origin

30 years ago, the environment and the equipment of traditional mushroom cultivation rooms around Dacun Township were simple and crude, with the room filled with many bugs, which was a torment for the farm staff. They could not modulate the temperature and humidity where mushrooms were grown. Their fate was in the hand of the God, so they could not control productivity. Then, the market of black fungus and mushrooms were occupied by mushrooms from China at lower prices. Fang Shi Wen decided to start a mushroom cultivation farm equipped with technical facilities to cultivate mushrooms, building aseptic and clean room and modern mushroom cultivation room with automatic temperature and humidity modulation, giving mushrooms an environment comparable to that of an advanced chip factory.
Mushroom Tribe adopts automated cultivating management. To improve traditional ways of cultivation, it took the lead in using bar-type cultivation frame and mobile net rack lateral cultivation method to cultivate mushrooms with high economic value, such as king oyster mushrooms, ganoderma, and tremella. It also introduced new types of mushrooms, some of which are obalonus, golden oyster mushrooms and pink oyster mushrooms, enriching mushroom kinds. By enterprise management, they aimed at building Q-YO brand. They were awarded Shen Nong Prize, the most honorable prize in agriculture realm, in 2006 because of their innovation and marketing concept which made them Taiwan agricultural technology pioneer. In December, 2007, Q-YO came to be the first mushroom cultivation plant to obtain ISO22000 food safety management system certification.

Philosophy

The Farm Manager, Fang Shi Wen, established Mushroom Tribe Ecological Leisure Farm on the philosophy of production, ecology and life. Aside from cultivating all kinds of mushrooms, Mushroom Tribe is also open to visitors, offering mushroom cultivation DIY and developing mushroom-related dietary supplements and beauty products in the hope that they can promote mushroom industry and inject creativity in agriculture.


Process

The area of Mushroom Tribe is 6942.18 square feet, divided into strain bottles and shiitake grow bags manufacturing sector, high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization area, computerized temperature control strains cultivation sector and computerized temperature control shiitake cultivation sector. The farm is equipped with clean inoculation rooms, large-scale automated sterilizers, automatic filling machines and environmental control devices. The environment condition is modulated based on the growing phases and the temperature of test tubes is -80 Celsius, which helps extend expiration date. Its modern clean room facilities reinforce the stability of strains. Its technology is second to none in mushroom industry, building an environment comparable to that of an advanced chip factory. At the same time, they established shiitake bags disposal area to decrease environmental burden in response to environmental protection policy.
Mushrooms possess high nutritive value, the nutrition, such as polysaccharide, small molecule protein and natural antibiotics, of which is proved to benefit health, living up to the appeal of a bunch of people who pay more attention to their health nowadays. Therefore, Manager Fang has no doubt that mushroom cultivation is promising, and through opening to visitors, they also promote the merits of mushrooms, hoping that more people can learn about them and eat them to stay healthy.
