Project Elemments
How does our research project fit into the Grade 1-9 Curriculum and the school-based curriculum?
Language Arts /Mandarin:
Interview records, experience and research materials must test our ability to understand and integrate the language we have learned in the ordinary language field. When preparing the questionnaire, we must consider how to make everyone understand what we want to express. Lesson 9 “Brook Bird” in the fifth grade text describes the kingfisher, and when we watched the birds in Neikou Village, we experienced the vivid and beautiful picture of kingfisher fishing in the text
Mathematics:    After completing the questionnaire, we had to figure our how much time was needed to perform statistics. We were confronted with discrepancy in figures, and all statistical figures were corrected after correction. And we must also learn to make histograms. It was so amazing that numbers could express so many meanings.
Social Studies:
There are many injured birds that need help, and it requires everyone to learn together how to make the right measures. This project allows everyone to understand how to conserve birds, and it can also promote these concepts to the general public and let the public understand the meaning of environmental protection.
Arts and Humanities:
When observing birds, it is like observing artworks. The bird’s posture is beautiful, which fully shows the magic of nature and the creator. The difference between bird flight and feather color makes the painting of flying feather full of color. Learn about the patterns of various birds in nature and the sounds of different creatures in nature through bird watching, and learn to appreciate natural artworks in nature
Science and Technology:
Birds are also part of nature, and play some important roles in the food chain, learn more about their foraging ways during bird-watching. The classification of biology also allows us to understand the classification of birds in the animal kingdom and know more about creatures!
Integrative Activities    In this project, we learned the spirit of teamwork and we also realized that unity was strength. We classmates helped each other, repaired other's gaps, made concerted efforts to complete the project, and learnt to show our best side. We spared no pains to complete everything. We were clear of the time schedule of the submitting of homework and the completing time of every work. The project would be carried on as schedule if everyone was clear of the time schedule. The team would not be delayed and everyone would feel easy at work.
What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your Cyberfair project?
The most information homework for us is form the “CWSC digital platform”. Using these network platforms in school, we can upload our work and interview information. We can also discuss our thoughts in this place and share all kinds of information. With CWSC digital platform, even if  we could not attend research meetings, we can keep up with everyone's progress.

In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your Cyberfair project both on-line and in person.
In order to enable us to carry out the Cyberfair project, the teacher helped us arrange many different visits, including going to the Wild Bird Society of Taipei to participate in routine bird watching activities, arranging visits to Guandu Nature Park, Huajiang Wild Duck Nature Park, conducting interviews with guided volunteer teachers, Miss Yun-ting Chu, Miss Shu-Chen Chuang, participating in bird rescue seminars, and participating in bird watching fairs. We also learned a lot of valuable experience and knowledge! Because birds are very inconspicuous in everyone’s life, we hope that this project can help more people know birds!
How did other members of your locality assist or take part in your research project?
Throughout the project, we have been assisted by many people. We appreciate Mr. Shih-Hung Chen and Miss Yueh-Tzu Lin of the Wild Bird Society of Taipei for assisting in related courses, and also appreciate Mr. Yueh-Hui Chen, Mr. Shi-Yao Chen, Mr. Sheng-Chieh Hsu, Miss Chao-Ju Su for helping us with the tour and interview. We appreciate Miss Yun-ting Chu, Miss Shu-Chen Chuang for telling us some bird-watching knowledge, so that we have a deeper understanding of birds. And we appreciate the bird friends who helped us to do the questionnaire, and all who have helped us and added infinite glory to our research.
What has been the impact of your project on your community?
This Cyberfair project has a great impact on us. To finish our homework, we need to write the experience learnt, reporting and texts. It is very difficult to complete this project if we are not capable to understand the texts comprehensively. We all have to spend a lot of time to increase the language ability. Secondly, we have to go to many places to watch birds and visit for interview to complete this study. But we are still willing to complete each journey, since all this is to enrich the project content. Thirdly, changes in daily life. Regularity is the first step to complete the project, because when you complete the task step by step, and review at any time, you naturally need to require yourself to finish task within limited time. This process affected ourselves, and also let us realize the efficiency and the value of teamwork. "No pays, no gains" is the truth that will never change.
Did you respect intellectual property rights and use references?
Every part of the information on this website came from our own interviews, or our own selections from the student data and photos that the teachers gave us. During the interviews, we informed all those being interviewed that the content of the interview would be placed on the website and asked for their consent. We also informed classmates who provided pieces and teachers providing photographs or video that the content would be placed on a website and asked for their consent.
Discoveries, lessons and surprises
Before the Cyberfair project, we actually knew nothing of birds. But we found that it was very interesting to watch wildlife after understanding the birds. For example, the scene of the crested goshawk flying down to prey on brown shrike was deeply imprinted in our memory and unforgettable for a long time. And we enjoyed this event more because there were many surprises every time.
Through our visits to bird-watching process, we know that the environment of the birds is not maintained well. In the future, human beings will be in the same situation as birds, with no living space. I am afraid that we will all be scared if we realize that this day really comes. That means that human beings cannot live in this environment. It requires everyone to contribute to protect the environment. Climate warming has caused serious change in bird habitats and migration, which is a very serious warning. I hope everyone will work hard to protect our environment.
