What if you just want a half day tour? Here is our suggestion. Start from Shilin Station on Xinyi- Tamsui Line to Daan Park Station. Within 10-minute walk, you can reach Yongkang Street. There you can try a variety of cousins and popular snacks.
Next, walk to the holiday flower market and enjoy numerous beautiful flowers and plants. We found the strange golden dog fern and pitcher plant Nepenthes last time we were there. Besides, you can buy some seeds and planting tools there.

You can also continue the feast of beauty by visiting the Arts and Culture Area across from the flower market. It used to be called the Jade Market. Currently, there are 800 booths and it is the biggest market for Jade, stones and culture relics in Southeast Asia. You can find various types of jades, antiques and many paintings there.
If you are tired from such a long walk, Taipei Public Library (Central District) is around the street corner. You can take a rest there and enjoy reading and absorbing all kinds of knowledge. It is late in the afternoon, it’s time to head back. Take a stroll in Daan Forest Park, and spend a moment with the nature. Then take the MRT back home and end this half-day trip with dinner at home.
