The Hong Kong Buddhist Association is generally harsh to homosexuals, but there some people who support homosexual, like Zhao Hui Master. Most of the Buddhists hold a gentle attitude like the Dharma Drun Mountain’s Master, Hsing-Yunfrom Fo Guang Shan, Scholar Yang Hui-nan, and the Dhammananda elder from Malaysia. As for Dalai Lama, he thinks that , as a true Buddhist, he or she has to reject being homosexual; but if he or she is not a Buddhist, then being homosexual is ok.

Many oppose the protection of equal rights. Gay marriage legislation is usually based on religious belief. Some believe that homosexuality and religious acts are sinful.。

There are two aspects of this description:

Religious people support gay rights. There are two. One is told that homosexuality is essentially no different from heterosexual, and homosexual is no alternative, but they believe homosexuals are entitled to basic social rights.

Religious opposition to gay rights legislation would lead to believe that homosexuality endorsement of homosexuality itself. Sexual orientation discrimination law would result in "reverse discrimination" - that is opposed to gay people who will be deprived of the right to express their views. They say that such approval contrary to their beliefs .
Some religions say no theological questions about homosexuality, and they do not believe it is born sinful.
