In order to let the quality of Taiwan tilapia conform to the import requirements of western countries, the Taiwan Tilapia Alliance (T2A) has started to execute the production responsibility system since 2004. That is to say, the drug use, water quality, and breeding environment should be under strict control and supervision. Through the aerial photography combined with the Geographic Information System, each fish farm has its own identification number and records. Only those superior fish farms, which have complete traceability system records of production and sales, and which are granted with the GAP certificate, can obtain the orders from food processing plants. Similarly, only those superior food processing plants, which pass the necessary health and safety inspection, hazard analysis, and critical control point, can be granted with the HACCP certificate.
