Fishermen have to settle their fish farms first before breeding the fry. They drain old water from fish farms, let the bottoms of fish farms be exposed under the big sunshine of South Taiwan, and wait for the soil to be fully sun-dried. Then, they turn over the earth with bulldozers, and spread lime to sterilize. At the same time, fishermen also repair the walls of fish farms when they have free time. Why they have to do so many complicated things? Uncle Chen told us,
"There is much organic sludge lying on the bottom of fish farm when the fisherman does not clean it for a long time. An unclean fish farm is easy to cause the fish to become ill or die. So, any carelessness is not
allowed."

Besides the bottoms of fish farms, the walls of fish farms, battered by the wind and the rain, also
need a lot of good repair. The repair works look easy, but you will find out that they really not if you actually operate in person. You have to use a long ladle to scoop the half-dry mud out of the bottom of fish farm, and paste the half-dry mud up one after another on the upper fish wall.
