Supervising Teachers

ˇ´ Mr. Lu Hsin-kuan

ˇ@ˇ@Mr. Lu has been our technology and information teacher since the junior high school, so he has no trouble leading our team. During the process of creating the webpages, we have used several software packages, such as PhotoImpact, Flash, and Dreamweaver. It was a chance for us to apply what we had learned in the classroom. Mr. Lu has been very patient with us, as he had shown us many different techniques.

With the determination to succeed,
there is no fear to fail.

Thomas Edison once said, ˇ§Many of life's failures are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave upˇ¨. Having done research on the legend of Houli's saxophone industry, I am moved by Mr. Lian-Chang Chang's perseverance and persistence. I would like to use Mr. Chang as an example for the students, to let them know that failure is unavoidable on the road to success. Failure may cause one to lose confidence, but it may also build one's confidence. Some will not recover after having failed, but others will learn from the experience and become even more proactive. They will turn resistance into assistance, and will finally succeed!

ˇ´ Ms. Lei Chang-yi

ˇ@ˇ@Ms. Lei is an experienced music teacher at our school, as well as the supervising teacher for the school's brass band. She graduated from a music school, so her musical abilities are beyond reproach. She not only provided a lot of information about the saxophone, she also recommended us to learn to play the saxophone if we want to understand it fully. Under Ms. Lei's positive influence, we the outsiders are beginning to understand the saxophone a little better. Ms. Lei has made us realize that the most basic way of learning is by actually doing it.

Kids who learn music will not stray.

Even though it is a phrase that gets overused in the TV commercials, it is an axiom that every music educator believes in. After having led the students in researching into Houli's saxophone industry, I have become a firmer believer in the all-inclusiveness and influence of music. Asian people tend to have a keener feeling for the calmness that is brought on by the music. I want the students to feel the music inside, to pursue deeply the art for the soul, rather than the applause from the audience. I told them that in the world of music, the first step is to know the musical instrument. This research project has enabled the students to appreciate and respect various musical instruments, so the students could start to think outside of the box, to learn everything with an open mind. It is with pleasure to see the students change for the better!
