alderman of Taipei , senior actor with over twenty years of experience

¡§I was on the performance trip from north to south. There were people from all provinces in our performance group¡Xliving in the same hotel, eating the same meal, helping each other. ¡§Provincial complex¡¨ and ¡§racial opposition¡¨ never came across our minds. We only though of how to cooperate to make the performance better, bring more audience, and make our lives better.¡¨

The family of uncle Dragon Ou-Yang can be called a ¡§family of artist¡¨¡Xa singer and actor himself, his wife, Fu-Jiuan is an actress and the host of a broadcasting program, three lovely daughters are commercial stars, his sister, Ou-Yang Fei-Fei, is a famous singer both in Taiwan and Japan. Uncle Ou-Yang is now an alderman, we've never seen him acting, but we heard from our parents that he was the hottest actor at that time. After meeting with him, we know it was not just a rumor.

¡§Would you please tell us if you've ever lived in the military dependents' village? What is it different from the ordinary community?¡¨ Jim asked the key question.

Uncle Ou-Yang said because his father was in the air force, so he lived in Chinyi village since young. He thinks the residents of ordinary community is from everywhere with different occupations and backgrounds. But residents in a military dependents' village have similar backgrounds¡Xall military descendents, and their parents almost work in the same unit. Therefore, their relationship is closer but also a closed community.

¡§How did you enter the show business?¡¨ Angel asked the question that we were most curious about.

Uncle Ou-Yang told us that he's never attended acting class but he entered show business under ¡§a very special circumstances¡¨. He joined the performance team (performance group) in the army before enrollment. Its duty was to hold evening shows once a while, such as play, talk show, singing, dance, and opera, etc. You have to be able to do everything. After leaving the army, ¡§he was discovered by a director sitting at the next table when drinking coffee¡¨ and filmed his first movie, ¡§The Last Night of Manager King¡¨. He recorded a singing album in 1984, and then filmed another TV drama ¡§Blue and Black¡¨, and kept on acting.

¡§What's your favorite work?¡¨ Jessie asked.

¡§Even though ¡§Blue and Black¡¨ as popular, ¡§The Last Night of Manager King¡¨ also had successful box office, and ¡§Blue Sky Bau¡¨ was well-received, but my favorite was an infamous play ¡§Drum Blower Gone with Colorful Clouds¡¨. I played a role as a veteran miner. ¡§drum blower¡¨ refers to the music instrument player in a funeral band. This occupation was considered low-grade without respect. But the miner was faithful and hardworking; he finally earned himself a color future. Uncle Ou-Yang took the opportunity to encourage us, ¡§you have to go through difficulty to be strong to overcome any challenge. I had a smooth ride in the show business as I played the leading role in my first movie. For me, it has pros and cons. Because it's too smooth that I don't have many chances to learn more, which limited my future.¡¨

¡§Why did you abandon show business and went for politics?¡¨ Nancy asked.

¡§When assisting my wife in her community service, I found myself very happy, which I could never feel in show business.¡¨ Uncle Ou-Yang replied.

Finally, Jim asked uncle Ou-Yang's opinion on the so-called ¡§racial opposition¡¨ and ¡§provincial complex¡¨ in current society.

Uncle Ou-Yang sighed and said, this is the biggest issue for the existing politician. For attracting votes at election, harmonious people were separated into groups by politicians.

I hope all the politicians-to-be could think over what uncle Ou-Yang just said.
