Interview foreigners

In the past, dried bean curd would rot easily because they needed to be preserved under a strict temperature-controlled environment. In addition, the product expiration date was short; therefore, the main export product was fermented tofu. Recently, the dried bean curd industry has a breakthrough in preservation, thus extending the shelf-life of the products. Dried bean curd products can now be exported to China, Japan, Europe, and the United States. However, our English teacher from the United States told us that he had not heard of Daxi Dried Dean Curd in his hometown. Therefore, we decided to interview foreigners to help understand how to better promote Daxi Dried Bean Curd internationally.

We interviewed our English teacher from America, Cody, an international volunteer, James, and a cram school teacher, Helena. We asked them to answer a set of questions first and then interviewed them based on their answers in the questionnaire. The following is the summary of the interviews:

  • Cody from the United States (interviewed by Michael Yu and Yves Yang):
  • Cody had never heard of Daxi Dried Bean Curd in the USA or any other foreign countries he has been to. We offered him five different kinds of dried bean curd to try, and he liked Sa-cha the most. He thought that Daxi Dried Bean Curd was tasty, and he would consider buying some for his friends or relatives. He is 100% supportive of our project and research.

  • Helena from Australia (interviewed by Audrey Chang):
  • Helena said she didn’t like the taste of Daxi Dried Bean Curd. She has only heard of it recently, and she has also never heard of Daxi Dried Tofu Festival. She has never seen Daxi Dried Bean Curd in any other foreign countries she has been to, either.

Before coming to Taiwan, most foreigners had never heard of Daxi Dried Bean Curd, not to mention eating dried bean curd. After arriving in Taiwan, they knew about this delicious food of Daxi through local friends’ introduction. They are also willing to introduce their foreign friends to try dried bean curd and agree that it is a good gift to friends. What makes us happiest is that they all support our idea of promoting the globalization of Daxi Daxi Bean Curd, and they look forward to enjoying these food items in their hometown in the future.
