Guided Tour for Yu-Tsai Students
After experiencing Mr. Zhang’s guided tour on Fude Temple on Dianzai Street, we became more familiar with the deities. However, if we wish to become guides for the temple, we need to reorganize the information that Mr. Zhang gave us and collect additional information on each deity from the Internet. The Wondrous Temple Expedition hopes to familiarize our fellow schoolmates with traditional Taiwanese folk religion, the history and stories behind the temple and its deities, and the tradition of ‘praying.’

Collect and Organize Data on Deity
│Photo: The Wondrous Temple Expedition│
Our teachers let each of us pick one deity to study on. Next, we reviewed the video on Mr. Zhang’s tour of the temple. Then, we went online to collect more information on the deity. Our teachers reminded us to compare across multiple sources to ensure data accuracy. We kept a detailed record of references so when we build the website, we will be able to credit the data to its source. After we finished collecting data, we reorganized and incorporated it into our presentations.
Plan for Temple Guided Tours
We followed Mr. Zhang’s tour routine to plan guided tour for our schoolmates. The guides would standby at each hall, and the tour leader would lead our schoolmates through the temple. Guided tour would start after they have arrived at the hall. After they have gone through every single hall, the tour leader would take them back to the front courtyard for closing activities and voting for outstanding tour guide.

Signing Up │Photo: The Wondrous Temple Expedition│
Our guided tour was open to any Yu-Tsai student interested in learning more about the temple. In order to maintain the temple’s serenity, we decided to limit the event to 15 students. Our teacher designed a sign-up form for our schoolmates to register.
Tour Guide Training and Rehearsal
After seeing such a tremendous influx of registrations for the temple tour, we were both excited and nervous. We practiced hard during lunch hour to familiarize ourselves with our guided tour presentations. Furthermore, we included more hand gestures and interactions. We even had a few rehearsals on the fifth floor student activity center. We sincerely hoped to present the best of Fude Temple on Dianzai Street to our fellow schoolmates. │Photo: The Wondrous Temple Expedition│
Design Worksheets and Make Props
We designed worksheets for students on the temple tour to enhance their learning experience. Our teachers designed a worksheet for the guided tour, and we even made tour flags to make the guiding experience more realistic.
