Earth God Please Help

│Photo: The Wondrous Temple Expedition│

There is a pillar at Fude Temple on Dianzai Street with lots of make-a-wish cards from worshippers. We decided to have one of our own at school for our schoolmates. What sort of wishes would the students make? How would Earth God answer their requests? After Earth God’s Blessing activity, we would show the results to everyone at school.

Plan and Prepare

While we were visiting Fude Temple on Dianzai Street, we noticed a pillar that had a lot of cards hanging on it. After we returned to school, we decided to organize a Earth God make-a-wish card activity. Before the event, we designed and printed the cards. Before the students filled in the cards, we introduced the temple and its primary deity – Earth God.

Write Make-A-Wish Card

Unlike Santa Claus, Earth God does not give out presents. Instead, Earth God helps people completing things that they had difficulties attaining. After we explained to the students why type of things they could wish Earth God for, we gave out the cards. They all seemed very serious about writing the cards!

Earth God Answers

After the cards were finished, they Cyberfair team members assumed the roles of Earth God and Earth God’s wife in answering their wishes. We answered them seriously and positively. When we came across a difficult one, we would discuss among ourselves so our answers wouldn’t disappoint them.

Displaying the cards

During the Earth God activity week, we displayed all the make-a-wish cards on the walls of first floor, and it looked really nice. Lots of students and teachers read the wishes and the replies on the cards during break time. The grade two students were busy looking for their own cards, and they seemed really satisfied after reading through the replies!
