Why study?

The total military dependents’ villages in Pingtung are 25. We started to survey on the villages so as to let people know more about them. We chose Sheng-li New Village as our theme, which is by far a forgotten place. It was an important residential districts during the Occupation of Japan, yet it becomes a normal one now.

The residential landscape is unique. Therefore, we searched for information, explored its origin and developments of all the past years , also, the problems that the houses are going to be removed , and the memories that all the residents shared.
