The General`s House
History
Late period of Japanese colonial rule, Japan began southing, and took Taiwan as the base. In 1937 , because the expansion for the airport , a large number of soldiers and officers came Taiwan, and the demands for accommodation increases.Chong-Lan Officer`s Reidence was therefore established ,which is now known as Sheng-Li New Village.Many of the officers originally lived in the same area, but later they gradually lived separatedly to manage individual area. The general`s house is the official residence of each general.
The General's house is inside of Sheng-Li New Village. It was originally the building of the Japanese officers' dormitary . Later, it became the residence for all the captains of the army officers' schools, but now it has been listed as a historical building.

Current Development
The general's house not only kept the building but also the big banyan tree next to it. The outside walls were torn down, and the bomb shelter was also sealed up. We can enter the house to see the military relics or some of the relevant books..etc.

Air Raid Shelter
In the air-raid shelter inside the MD villages of Pingtung city, the main mode is the long covering object on the ground. Because its main purpose is for military defence is used, it is quite strong.

Transformation& Development
However, with the development of times, in November 2009, the museum was renovated and established to display contemporary stories. On November 2, 2018, it was renovated and transformed into a "Bigtree Bookstore" which is suitable for parent- child readers. 。
