The Military Song Hall
History
The Hall of Military Songs is located on Qing-Dao Street, Pingtung city. The hall`s features are is single layer of japanese-style brick wood frame concrete roof. It was built in 1913 and reopened in 2014 on the basis of the history of military songs , presents the history of Taiwan before. It is the first museum that features military songs.

About Military Songs
During the 1950s and 1960s , the Chinese army and the nationalist government retreated to Taiwan. During the time of martial law, the government encouraged people to write military songs with bonuses, so the "sound" of military songs could be heard everywhere in the media or along the streets.
At that time, military songs lived with the people. Almost everyone listened to military songs. At that time, men, women and children could sing more or less. The songs were pop songs at that time.
However, with the advent of martial law and the rapid development of the democratic era, military songs have gradually been replaced by campus folk songs, Chinese pop songs, and even Japanese and Korean songs. The songs were once the product of the authoritarian spirit of the martial law era, they have gradually returned to the barracks and faded from the minds of the people.

However, in order to improve the morale, military song competitions were held in the army, and some songs were still kept in the military song hall. Now most of the elderly hear the military song cannot help but become very passionate and excited.

Current Development
The hall of military songs, as the name implies, is filled with the military songs of the time. Other compartments are also filled with Musical Instruments, costumes, military songs, and music scores of the time.Among the relics left at that time, there is a large interactive touch screen to further understand the military songs in the way of games.
There is also an interactive wall outside the museum, with questions on the front and answers on the back of the sign. You can interact with the crowd in the form of a flip card. There are also some installation art in the alley next to the museum. Volunteers say that many couples come here to take wedding photos.

Transformation &Development
On November 2, 2018, the hall of military song was transformed into "Qing-Dao 97", which represents the historical significance of the house in the name of street signs.
The museum opened with the theme of "Urban Forest & Memory House", displaying the theme picture book "Secrets on the Roof" and the wooden structure building, with the dialogue between urban forest and memory house, to perspective the century-old memory of Pingtung and imagine the possible appearance of future architecture.
After that, a series of activities will be held from time to time to retain the old taste of the village and inject new soul into the old buildings.
