A lot of people think Nanke is just a plain science park with only factories; little do they know that the science park includes museums, conservation parks, and history. Before visiting the place, we, like other people, thought Nanke is just another factory-based area with pollution; however, after visiting the area, we fell in love with the place, and we hope you would as well.

Since ancient times Nanke

In total of 1,043 hectare meter, Nanke Science Park includes the cities of Tainan and Kaohsiung. As for Tainan, Nanke covers the Xinshi District and Shanhua District. There are a total of 72,583 people who live in this area the transportation of which  is very convenient that there are trains, HSR, and highways to connect these areas together. As for the environment, the government has spent much expense to make Nanke a place for not only homes to humans but also homes to wild animals that are being conserved.

History and Culture                   

Besides its booming economy, Nanke has made many changes to its environment, like creating public artworks with various themes and adding colour to the grey factories, so tourists may enjoy a different taste and let Nanke shine brighter. The former, southern YongShou deputy director said, “Nanke implemented public art projects ten years ago, creations in Yingxi Lake, dormitories and green spaces, which shape the cultural atmosphere in the science park and attract many families to visit.” (Liberty Time Net)

Economic Development

Currently, Nanke’s main industries include optoelectronics, integrated circuits, precision machinery, biotechnology and green energy. The foundry and panel industries contribute the most output value, accounting for about 80 to 90 percent, with the southern Taiwan Science Park administration as the management authority.

Nanke is developing Tainan as the science industrial centre in the south. In the integrated industry, TSMC and UMC have already designed the 12-inch wafer, while in the optoelectronics industry, Innolux and HannStar have made two major productions and developed one of the world’s most complete flat panel displays. Moreover, the Tainan City Government specifically developes Nanke, with a total land area of more than two thousand hectares, the “Nanke LCD televisions and industrial support zone” has been opened for manufacturers. Pharmaceutical and biotech industries have risen and increased international competitiveness.
