Anniversary Concert - Concert of 2014

Every band must have this dream of having its own concert in a national facility, and that goes for HanGuang Vocal Band as well. In its second year of existence, HanGuang had its ‘HanGuang Drill!’ concert at Zhongshan Hall.

In 2014, HanGuang once again revisited Zhongshan Hall for its annual concert. Tickets sold out very quickly, and the Beautiful Voices were invited to join a concert that combines animation and sensory experience.

Concert Reporter

For this special concert, we sent out our special reporters to learn more about how every one on the band, teacher Allegro and Director Chu felt before the concert. We were scheduled to have interviews with the band, but since the band had been in practice all afternoon, and they needed some rest, so they were available for an interview. Director Chu, on the other hand, was surrounded by the media, so we decided to send Oliver to interview teacher Allegro.

Interviews Q&A

Q:What do you think about this concert?
A:The band has worked really hard for quite some time, and I believe they will do well.
Q:How many concerts has the band had before today?
A:This is their third concert. The second one was on the third of December last year, and the first one was a year before the second one. It’s about one a year.
Q:I heard there will be some animation involved in this concert, is that correct?
A:Yes, we planned some 3D interactions with the audience. There will be 3D cameras, and they can feel our body heat and distance.
Q:Will this add difficulties to your perforamcne?
A:Not at all. It has nothing to do with the performance. Maybe just a little, it only adds complexity to where each one of them is suppose to stand on stage.
Q:Are there songs that you are more worried about?
A:It should be okay, just fine! I have confidence in them.
Q:Any words for the band or the audience before the concert starts?
A:Everyone just sit back and enjoy the show!

Attending the concert

Principal Pan, vice principal, and all directors attended the concert. ‘Thousand Character Classic’ was the opening number, followed by ‘Joy of Studying in Four Seasons.’ We had interactions following prompts on the screen. Whenever someone walked in the front, there would be a shadow projected on the screen, and it was really lively and interactive. Next, the band went through a few songs until a familiar tune rang the bell. It was ‘Full River Red,’ a song they performed just before the intermission. The song brought us on our feet, and we couldn’t wait for the second half to start.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star in the concert

Wit deafening cheers coming from the crowd, the band put on their best performance in return. In the second half, Jing Hua asked every one to take out his or her mobile phone then switch on the flash light. The concert hall was soon filled with thousands of little stars, and it was a memorable sight. When the scheduled performance came to an end, the crowd cheered ‘encore, encore, encore…’ and the band responded with ‘One Night in Beijing’ and ‘Olive tree’. The concert came to a successful conclusion after the encore presentation.
