Maintaining the River Need the Power of All the Residents   
Plum Tree Creek is the beginning of settlement and the beginning of civilization. People relied on Plum Tree Creek for both drinking and agricultural water. Although we are no longer so close, it is still flowing in our daily life quietly. I thought the biggest reason of pollution was industrial water, without those big factories, Plum Tree Creek would be a low contamination river. Unrespectable, it is domestic waste water which made the pollution got worse. So water conservation is a matter, a burning urgency. Regulation of rivers in Taiwan is an important and ongoing work. Plum Tree Creek has also tried hard from artificial canals to ecological engineering methods and return to concrete embankments, trying over and over again. I can't help but wonder which is the best way for Taiwan's river construction? Perhaps none. Because we never have seek for the right way by community planning and the concept of land sustainable but asking for the immediate economic benefit. Between the environment and the economy, we need an active government and wide-awake people. As a teacher, we should lead the children in Zhuwei to experience the environment around and find the places that require more attention. All of the social issues must start from our daily life. Perhaps there's not much we can do. Maybe a man's strength is unlikely enough. When we bring together everyone's power then there's something we can change.

A Teacher's Expectation for Education of Plum Tree Creek
For those country boy born of my age, childhood memories always have a brook. During the summer, kids swimming, rafting, fishing, catching shrimp and clams, finding crabs under the stone in clear and cold water. It was an indispensable "party" for our summer vacation. Because getting close to river can refreshing our mind during the unbearable hot days. And also adds a great deal of fun for our long and tedious holiday. A decade ago, I came to teach in Zhuwei Elementary School. At that time I, the only stream I know is the well known river in Taiwan, Damsui River. Until six years ago, to composed the science program plan for forth grade about the water sources, I googled to find if there's other streams in Zhuwei. Then I found it, Plum Tree Creek. But I was wondering "since we had a river with such a beautiful name, why I had never heard from colleagues, students, or parents talked about it in these years? 」 Four years ago, Bamboo Curtain Studio cooperated with our school for the first time and promotes "Plum Tree Creek Cultural Season". The sixth grade students at that time not only take the cultural and historical introduction of Plum Tree Creek, but also painted a large canvas and do river dancing in the arts curriculum. Director 陳建興 also lead students to do the ecological survey of Plum Tree Creek. After the year learning with my students, my doubts finally have answers. It is because Plum Tree Creek got sick! That's why people in Zhuwei area might temporarily forget it! So, how to awaken the people's memory and consensus with Plum Tree Creek? I think that's the purpose and necessity of building a Web page. Being a teacher of Zhuwei Elementary School, we can use this page on the introduction of hometown and environmental education. Influence those students with potential through education, leading them to explore ancient and modern variants of the Plum Tree Creek. By so, I believe the residents of the surrounding area can also be affected. Generate consensus and internalization their willingness to change and act. I sincerely hope students of Zhuwei could also have a sweet memory of river in their childhood as I did.
