How to Implement the Project

In order to encourage students to watch learning videos at home to improve their English, My Culture Connect will work with the Changhua International Education and English Teaching Resource Center on the Renshi Academy project. All schools in Changhua are qualified to apply.

Programs for students to choose from: Basic English, GEPT Questions, and One Minute English Classroom

Students can get points by watching videos at home and practice keywords and sentences on teachers at school. Once they have accumulated enough points, they get to talk to native speakers about what they have learned in videos. There is no fee required for any students participating.

Student rewards

1. Opportunities to practice English on native speakers.

2. Certificates issued by their school.

3. Opportunities to be actors in shows produced by My Culture Connect.

Schools are responsible for finding a contact person who is responsible for keeping students’ progress, setting up Skype sessions for students and arranging native speakers’ visits to his or her school.

Those who want to volunteer in this project are required to watch the videos. They have to go to the school to help keep track of students’ progress.

In 2013, the My Culture Connect team was invited to make a presentation to the teachers in Changhua County who are involved in the English education and international education. They shared their experiences on their Skype session project and video-production project.

My Culture Connect team and Changhsin Junior High administrators discussed how to work on the Enactus project with Truman State University in the US.
