Renshi Academy

(note: Renshi is the Chinese name of My Culture Connect.)

My Culture Connect has been true to its mission of making free learning materials and creating more learning opportunities for students. For the past three years, it has been trying hard to promote students’ English education and global understanding. Besides helping students set up sessions for students in different areas to talk to international volunteers on Skype, it has worked with the Changhua International Education and English Teaching Resource Center on organizing events and workshops for teachers and students to help them reach the global community.

However, we found that students have trouble interacting with people from other countries on a deeper level because their listening and speaking abilities are not good enough. In order to help students improve their language skills so that they can learn more from the exchange programs, My Culture Connect has launched a new project called Renshi Academy. We will offer students free learning videos to watch at home and opportunities to talk to native speakers, either in Taiwan or in other countries, about what they have learned in videos. We hope that they can practice expressions they have learned on native speakers in real-life situations. This different approach is expected to help students boost their communication skills so that they can further participate in exchange programs.
