Wanhe’s Charity Sale

A Brief Introduction to Wanhe’s Charity Sale
We had a special Christmas celebration this year. The Cyberfair team organized a charity sale to help promote My Culture Connect’s volunteerism. All the teachers, students and students’ parents participated in the event. Our community has long received support from others. Our in-depth study of Luke’s work reveals how important altruism is to our community. We would like to put his ideas into practice and donate all the funds we raised to My Culture Connect. This will help with their new project, the Renshi Academy, which is designed to promote and support English education in rural areas.

Today was the day for the charity sale that our team organized. The reason we held this event was to help others just like Luke does. Every member of our school, from the principal to individual students, donated something for this sale. This morning, I saw my teacher Chin-chan bring a lot of clothes to school. I thought she was so kind and generous. The event was open to everybody at school and in the community. My aunt even came to this meaningful activity.
To make the sale go smoothly, our teacher asked students in different grades to come at different times. Our team members worked as helpers, telling people the price of items and encouraging them to buy. At first, not many people came. During our recess time, more and
more people began to show up. Some bought toys and others chose cups. Suddenly, the audio-visual room was alive, just like a traditional market. The items available for sale went quickly.

Near the end of the sale, our principal and teachers decided to have a special sale. You could choose four toys for ten dollars. If you bought one porcelain dinner set, you got one free for 50 dollars. This caused people to compete for the remaining items, as they were priced so low. Soon, we were sold out. We were very happy because we could donate the money to Luke for his project.
Today was a meaningful day. We helped with this sale
very happily. We were busy and happy. Who would have thought we could do something to return Luke’s kindness? A big thank-you to the principal and everybody at school for their support. After the success of this sale, we have a much clearer understanding of giving and gratitude. It was a great day!

A Charity Sale by Hsin-tze Chen
Our school organized a charity sale and all the teachers and students at school donated used items. Looking at so many items, I felt the warmth in our community. My teacher gathered all the Cyberfair team members to sort out the items and put them on shelves for people to see.
The sale that we had been looking forward to had started. We had a great variety of items for sale for children and adults. We shouted, “Please come and buy something.”

There were many people who came to the sale. They kept their eyes open wide, searching our sale offerings. When they found something they wanted, they paid their money. The anxiety and unease the team members had felt quickly faded away. The offered items had new owners. As time passed, we had fewer and fewer items. When the third morning session was over, our principal decided to put the rest of the items on sale. Ten dollars for four items. They were so reasonably priced that people began to compete for them. During the process, we gave our full attention to the needs of our customers. After they got what they wanted, we showed them where to check out with their items. Our teacher Jessie worked as a cashier, collecting all the money for the sale.
Finally, everything was sold out. As we completed the sale, everyone was very excited with our success. It didn’t occur to us that we could raise money selling these used items. The money we raised will be donated to My Culture Connect. Our sale proceeds will allow Luke to help more people.
