An Interview with the Mr. Go-yu Tsai and his Wife

An Interview with the Mr. Go-yu Tsai and his Wife by Yi-ting Yao
To improve our level of understanding of Luke, we invited one of the managing board of My Culture Connect, Mr. Go-yu Tsai, to speak with us. Even though his wife was ill, they came to our school to answer our questions and discuss their experiences with Luke Lin. We met with the Tsai’s during our lunch break. We are very grateful to them for helping us.
They begin by telling us how they first met Luke Lin at Ming Harng Temple. The family, who sold vegetables at the market, was very interested in their children’s education. When they first heard of the free English offerings, they were skeptical. Why would anyone offer free classes and ask nothing in return? As time passed their suspicions turned to respect for this man, Luke Lin. They observed that he was a careful, hard-working individual and very trustworthy. They were so impressed that they became members of My Culture Connect. The Tsai family was very proud of their son, Paul, as he had passed the GEPT intermediate-high test in his first year of high school. We thought, we would sure like to make our parents proud like this.

In the Tsai’s eyes, Luke was a very special person who was filial to his parents, did not gossip, and made no distinctions amongst his students, regardless of their backgrounds. Simply stated, here was a selfless, compassionate man who earned respect by his actions. This is the reasoning Mr. Tsai gave for his own desire to join this organization and serving on its board of directors. Mr. Tsai encouraged us to learn patience, be humble, and be polite and courteous to all. We find it easy to admire the Tsai’s for all the support they show their children.
Our respect for Luke increases daily, as we learn of all the time he volunteers for the students in our community and beyond. Many weekends, as well as regular weekdays. It is easy to see how he has touched the hearts of parents in our community. His after-school English offerings have impacted many students. What a wonderful story this is!

An Interview with Mr. Gou-yu Tsai by Yi-Hsin Tsai
Today the Cyberfair team interviewed Mr. Gou-yu Tsai and his wife. The Tsai’s sell vegetables at the market and they are very busy. However, to save us the time spent on transportation, they came to our school for the interview. We are very grateful to them for doing this.
Mr. Tsai told us how he met Luke. They held the same religious beliefs. His children had attended Luke’s English classes at Ming Harng Temple. His son Paul was one of the top students at his high school. He had passed the GEPT intermediate-high test in his first year of high school. He, also, told us that Luke had been a top student in the English Department at his university. Mr. Tsai told us that Luke has been a very good influence on the Tsai’s children.
Mr. Tsai holds Luke in very high regard. He said Luke was a compassionate individual whose persistence and dedication touched his heart. This is why he joined Luke’s organization and serves on its board of directors. Mr. Tsai wants to do good things with My Culture Connect.
Mr. Tsai was very eloquent. His wife was very kind and sometimes added her ideas to the conversation. After listening to their words, I made a list of Luke’s characteristics. He was very nice to his parents. He tried to treat people equally. He was a self-disciplined, careful, and patient individual. He was willing to help those in need.
I think Mr. Tsai is also a very kind person. He donates money to charities. It looks like Mr. Tsai and Luke share some good qualities and are well-suited to working together. This teamwork accomplishes great deeds.
