“Small Small” Challenges

Sappho says “It doesn’t matter whether you open a small independent bookstore or a large chain store like Kingstones, there is no class for learning how to run a bookstore. What’s more is that from the very beginning you will encounter all sorts of obstacles and challenges on the way. Decorating, opening a company, importing books etc. all have very complex problems that can only be solved by seeking the help of other profressionals, and being very thorough, patient and brave. Working at a bookstore requires a lot of your time, only those with a real love of books can stick at it!”

“Small Small” Problems

Sappho says “The bookstore now requires a lot more money that it did in the beginning. Books cost more and the price of goods has risen so our costs are much higher than they once were. But it takes more than just money to keep the bookstore running.

“Small Small” Persistence

Sappho says “When opening a bookstore, first don’t forget your original intentions and second always remember to do everything properly whatever you are doing. As a bookstore owner, you have to keep an eye on others as it is like one big family. What’s more hopefully one day the bookstore will belong to many people. It lasts not because people keep it going in order to reap profit and forget the original purpose. It will last to ensure that everyone has a fair and reasonable space to enjoy.
