Pre-interview:
▲The
first step of interview is
“telephone contact”, through
which, we can confirm if the
interviewees would like to
accept interview. If so, we can
conduct further communnication
for the time and place of
interview.
▲Clearly
notify the motive and reason of
conducting interview in
telephone communication, as well
as the point in interviewee
attracting interviewers. Be
polite but present strong
intention of interviewing,
making sure your “sincerity” is
delivered to interviewees. That
is the most important.
▲The
interview time should not too
early or too late, because some
are used to taking a nap.
Therefore, the proper time of
interview should be after 2:00pm
and no later than 5:30pm, to
avoid lengthy interview and
interview time closing to
dinner, except the interviewee
proposes dinner beforehand in
telephone communication.
▲Interview
location should consider
interviewee’s convenience as the
first priority. The house of
interviewee would be the
idealest choice, as it can
directly present interviewee’s
working environment, which is
greatly helpful in studying.
▲
Before set-off, the students
should review questions about
ramie, based on previous works
of collecting interview-related
information, planning and
preparing questions beforehand,
sending prepared questions to
interviewees via e-mail or fax
to leaf them with sufficient
time for answer properly as well
as preparing additional
information. Informing
interviewees with questions in
advance represents a kind of
respect to them.
▲Prepare
tape recorder or MP3 to record
interview, because hand notes
may miss important points if the
interviewee speaks too fast and
record tape can avoid that kind
of otask, which should obtain
agreement of interviewees in
advance.
▲ It is
polite to bring with proper
gifts for interviewees, which
should be prepared beforehand,
and not necessarily be
expensive.
▲ Job
assignment consists of deciding
enquirer, photo taker, recorder,
etc. Members participating
interview can be assigned as
interviewer (responsible for
asking questions), recorder
(recording interview contents),
photo taker (shooting interview
process, product or studio, as
well as taking photoes with
interviewees, and the like).
Besides, video taker or
recordist can be added
accordingly, as recorders
probably cannot record the
content completely, and video or
tape can help in content
arrangement.
▲
Manners in discussion and
interview.
(2)Interview:
▲concentrate
on what the interviewee says
during interview, discover
issues during the process and
interact with interviewee. Talk
frequently and focus on subject
to obtain purposed answers.
(3)After
interview:
▲Arrange
data and contents of record
after interview to be documents;
appoint for the second interview
if content is not complete, in
order to deepen the depth of
interview.
▲In
arranging interview content to
paper report but before
printing, it is necessary to
confirm with interviewees to
avoid disagreement of printed
copy (e.g., “I did not mention
this, but why did it appear in
the report? “ Or “The word
involves my personal thoughts
and should not be printed out.”
). Completion of the interview
does not mean the end, as every
interviewee may expect to review
the final report that should be
sent to the interviewees after
completion, which is more
polite, leaving no doubt in the
interviewees about the progress
of interview.
