Each
picture brings back memories that have our footsteps in them. When
we were in a festive musical event, visiting the workers behind
the scene, touring a historical building, and listening to the soulful
sound of a saxophone, we could always feel all the special things
that Houli has to offer. Let us rewind back to this uncommon tour
of saxophones! |

Without
the participation of the community, a local-specific industry
would not be able to gain the acceptance of the public. Houli's
saxophone industry has both the assistance of our government
and the support of the community. Whenever there was a major
event, community residents would either volunteer or support
it financially. The Houli people demonstrate to us that they
care greatly about the land they live on. |

A
school is the place where a student's skills and talents are
honed. A school plays an important role in creating a positive
environment for learning. Our school is pulling out all the
stops to promote musical activities, such as sponsoring performances
within the school or inviting foreign bands to perform. Our
school wants to make sure there is music everywhere on the
campus. Our principle Wong Da-jiu's saxophone performance
can always attract the students' attention to this musical
instrument. Under his leadership, we are sure that the sound
of saxophone can be heard in every corner of our campus in
the near future. |

Houli's
saxophone industry is very fortunate, because it has the support
of our government, such as the Ministry of Economic Affairs
Industrial Development Bureau and MIRL/ITRI. They not only
helped the industry plan and organize, they also participated
in research and development, so that the manufacturers could
improve the quality levels by using better techniques and
better supports. |

Because
of the Houli residents' love for music, this western musical instrument
industry was able to take root in this town; because of the Houli's
residents' humble ways, this industry that is rich in humanity and
history was able to be passed down from generation to generation.
When the east meets the west, quality is what matters the most.
Houli's saxophone makers would make even more efforts to nourish
this fruit of labor, because it is so hard to come by. |

Houli
is a fascinating little town. It does not cover a large area, but
it does have quite a few points of interest. Some of the places
are historical, while others are just the opposite. Switching between
the past and the present, one will find lots of surprises in the
rich heritage of the area. Fortunately, this area has kept the tradition
even with the passing of time. |

The
population of Houli is only about fifty to sixty thousand, but there
are lots of street food vendors that serve traditional local-flavored
foods. Everywhere you go, it's always a full house, with words of
praise being heard periodically. We became hungry just from watching,
so we decided to try several places. The end result is us having
really full stomach and gaining weight. But we still say to each
other, "let's come back here again!" |
