The four major genetic groups are consisting with MingNan, Hakka, Chinese and Aborigines in Taiwan . However, in the last ten years, there is a fifth group, international brides. The major origins of international brides are from Vietnam , Indonesia , and the mainland of China . Ms. Yun-Shian Lin is one of the brides from China .

Grandma Lin, Ms. Yun-Shian Lin, was born on 1949 in ShaoXing , Zhejiang Province. She ran a business of clothing field. On 1998, she was married to Grandpa Chih-Shin Lee through someone's introduction. Then, she came to Taiwan and lives here for seven years by now.

Grandma Lin is shy and modest. At the beginning, she did not accept our interview and said that she is not good with having interviews. Probably because we are such innocent and adorable, she accepted our interviews.

¡§Grandma Lin, after came to Taiwan , could you adjust the life style here?¡¨ Nancy asked.

¡§At first, when everyone knew that I will come to Taiwan , my relatives said I am lucky and feel happy for me. Since I came here, the thing I love at most is the weather. Winters in my hometown are much colder than here. Yet, I found something I cannot get used to. That is, in Taiwan , you have lots of mosquito and it seems the criminal rate is worse than what it is in China . Unlike here, the life style in China is dull and ordinary. In addition, the place we live in is too small.¡¨ Grandma Lin described with smiles.

Since Grandma Lin ran Clothing business in Zhejiang , she was quiet wealthy. Now she lives with Grandpa Lee in a house which is about 33 square meters, and also, she needs to share the public bathing house and toilets with others. However, she is gladly enduring hardships. We can say that the power of love is such big and mighty.

¡§How about living habits? You are from Zhejiang and Grandpa is from HeNan . What if there is some living difference? What are you going to do?¡¨ Jim was curious.

Grandma Lin was shy in the beginning and laughed aloud in the end

¡§He loves hot and chill, but I don't like the taste; he loves noodles but I love rice. We have lots of differences but this does not matter! I will follow what ever he loves.¡¨ Grandma Lin answered.

Grandma Lin has such a great tolerance and she is the typical good wife.

Andy would like to get to know the details of teenagers and asked Grandma Lin the education in China .

¡§When I was in school, there was the Great Cultural Revolution in China . We had meetings and demonstrations everyday. Hence, we did not have chances to study. However, it is different. Since the policy of one child in one family, each family has only one child so every child is the treasure of a family. Some parents put their children into kindergartens when they are only 3 years old. Even parents make their children studying English or Japanese. The competition gets intensely in the elementary school or in the junior high school.¡¨ Grandma Lin said, ¡§There are too many population in China , if you do not work hard, there is no chance to excel others.¡¨

We were alarmed when we heard this. We found that the people we competed with are not only from our classes, school or Taiwan , but also, from outside of Taiwan . Even though, they educate their children in different meanings from ours but the spirit of trying to be excel is worth to learn.

At the beginning, Grandma Lee was shy, but in the end, she was smiling hearty. We can notice that her ability to adjust environments is pretty well. The place Grandma Lin stays will be took apart soon. We hope Grandpa Lee and her will have a larger house, at least have their own bathroom and toilet..
