School Club

Our school established a Beiguan club in October 2019, with Cao Rongyuan, the leader of Dongshan Fongli Yuan located near Dong Shan Elementary School, and a teacher from Changhua Yuqing Yuan teaching Beiguan music. Currently, there are 20 students attending the club, which meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning.

Teacher Liu's teaching style is lively, and if we don't understand or can't follow something, she patiently explains it to us. In order to help us learn faster, she also prints out the Gongchepu (a type of sheet music used in Beiguan music) for us to take notes on, which helps us to learn faster.

Because of her unique teaching style, I have become very interested in Beiguan music and have grown to love it. Sometimes, my classmates tease me that Beiguan is too noisy, but I explain to them that Beiguan music is actually a way to preserve traditional culture, and Teacher Liu's teaching makes it fun and engaging. I must be quite persuasive, for they have also joined the Beiguan club!.
