A. Wood carvings

     A large number of wood carvings were used in traditional buildings, in particular, ancient temples in Lukang. Each temple is decorated with exquisite wood carvings, making Lukang an important place of traditional wood craft. In addition to building carvings, the wood carvings of Lukang are also found in worship artifacts such as Buddhist statues, Buddhist altar, and furniture.

 

B. Tin art

     Tin art is a traditional Chinese ancient art to carve various types of utensils by using tin, lead and gold. The utensils are often used in former marriage or religious rites. The utensils are mostly used in candlestick, orange light and religious sacrificial utensils. Because of low melting point and soft nature of tin, it is easy to carve flowers, portraits, paintings on tin utensils, which are popular among writers and other literary men.

 

C. Light art

     Lanterns are an integral artifact of traditional folk customs. Lanterns can be found in festivals, rituals of life and folk belief activities. The traditional lanterns of Lukang are made of bamboo and paper with Quan-zhou style lanterns as the mainstream. Coupled with the traditional painting, calligraphy and color painting techniques, the life-like presentation on the lanterns significantly enhance the artistic value of the lanterns, and thus the traditional artifact with Chinese flavor are to flourish.


 

 

D. Hand-made fan

     Fan-making was originally a foundry industry in Lukang. For the moment, combined with the traditional artistic calligraphy and Chinese traditional painting, the paper fan has become an artifact for appreciation.
