Presentation Reflections

Chia-Hsuan Wu

It was time to do the "walk-in" classroom presentation. Before the presentation, we kept discussing how to share the CyberFair project with our classmates at the end of the term. We decided to share the TRMPC by having a "walk -in" classroom event to present our achievements, and introduce the TRMPC to our classmates.

We had to do our best to prepare and present. However, we had limited time. Therefore, everybody gave their best effort to prepare for this presentation. Today was the day to share our achievement with everyone. It was quite a challenge for us because we just joined the medical action two days ago, and we had to gather all the information about the CyberFair project in just 2 days, and then do the walk-in classroom presentation.

I had to present 15 photos from the TRMPC in a short time during the “walk-in” classroom presentation. Therefore, I had to rehearse several times at noon before the event started. I was the last one to get on the stage. I couldn't let my teammates and teachers down, so I did my best to present and played it by ear. I was very nervous in fact.

Today's performance wasn't as good as expected. Maybe we didn't have enough time to prepare and rehearse. After the walk -in classroom presentation, the teachers gave us some comments of our strengths and weaknesses which could help us in the future.
The “walk-in” classroom presentation was a great experience. Not only did I learn how to do the presentation, but also I learned how to face my fear on the stage. I had a chance to share my efforts to everyone. It was a wonderful experience.

We shared the information about the TRMPC with our classmates on January 15th. Although I had already practiced many times by myself, I was still nervous. Before we entered the classroom, our teacher reminded us to show our politeness, speak clearly and not to look at the script all the time. Thanks to our teacher's reminder, I kept the etiquette we should have when we visit other classes in mind.

When we visited the first class, my heart was beating so fast. However, the students were paying so much attention and giving us feedback. I gained much more confidence before I visited the next class. Though I had a slip of tongue, I tried to stay calm and finish my presentation.

This is quite unique experience in terms of practicing my oral expression and skills. After giving this presentation, I hope more students will understand the importance of the TRMPC.

I felt tense today because my team was giving a presentation at school in the afternoon. My mood went up and down in the morning. We had our last practice session in the computer room at noon. After that, we walked into the class and started our presentation.

I took the lead in presenting our project. Although I spent time practicing my speech, I was too nervous to demonstrate it clearly. I pronounced some words incorrectly. However, I calmed myself down, and luckily the rest of the presentation went well. We all felt relieved at the moment the presentation was finished.

After returning to the computer room, we had a brief discussion about our presentation. The teachers shared what they had observed from our performance. They mentioned that I should pay attention to what others were saying even after I finished my part. Some of the other feedback was that some were reading the notes instead of looking at the audience. Some were not familiarized with their speech. They went on the stage without having memorized their speech well.

In conclusion, I have learned a lot from this experience. I believe there is room for me to improve. I wish I could do it better next time.

Since we decided to share our feelings with all our classmates about the TRMPC this year, I started early on making my preparations. I prepared for the presentation, the making of the speech that was to be performed on the stage. I learned a lot from preparing and listening to others. I had practiced my presentation many times before I had to present it on the stage. I was hoping it would go well while I was sharing my presentation with the class.

This afternoon, the teachers asked us to practice more before we had to present it. I became a bit more nervous than usual and I was drawing a blank. Even though I made some mistakes while I was giving the speech to the classes, I still finished it with a good ending. I think it was a good experience for me and I also learned a lot from it, but there is one thing I realized, which is that there is nothing well-prepared unless you keep practicing over and over again. That is why people said, “Practice makes perfect.” If I have another chance for giving a speech, I would do it better.

It's almost the end of the semester, and the CyberFair has also come to the end. We decided to visit every class of 5th and 6th graders to share our results with. We started with the 5th graders, and I felt much more relaxed. There were so many 5th graders willing to listen to our oral presentation, which made me eager to strive for perfection in my presentation. While presenting, I felt like I was on a rollercoaster that didn’t end until I finished all my presentations.

My first presentation was okay, yet there was still room for improvement. In order to gain more confidence, our teachers gave us encouragement. I made quite a few mistakes during the grade 6 presentations.

I went back to the computer room to have our performance reviewed. Our teachers believed that our teammates need to have more practice and preparation. Some students thought they were quite skilled at the oral presentations, yet they didn't perform as well as they thought they would. We need to show the best we can and make good preparations. I hope next time I can do better with my oral presentation.

January 15th was the day that the members of the CyberFair went into classes to present their findings. Although I had practiced many times at home, I still felt nervous, anxious, and not well-prepared.

The purpose of the sharing was to let the classmates know about the TRMPC. I was responsible for the different reports of the TRMPC. The reports were divided into three categories. The first one was print media, such as newspapers and magazines. Second was TV and Net media, such as television and internet. Third were the TRMPC’s awards.

The first class I presented to was my own classroom. I felt like I was on a roller coaster as it was terrifying. I did my best to finish my job. Although I am a sixth-grader, I got nervous easier than before. I failed, and the result was not really good.

After finishing sharing, we went back to the computer room. The teachers told us not to think too much after we finished. The attitude was the most important. We can learn and do better through practicing next time. This activity taught me it’s better not to be too cocky and that practice makes perfect. You will success if you practice.

We have been practicing our presentation for two weeks. I was too nervous in the beginning. I didn’t look at the audience while I practiced. Another problem was that I spoke too fast, so the audience couldn’t hear me clearly. I hoped that I could overcome these two weaknesses when I stood in front of the class.

When I went to the first class, I listened to the other students’ presentations. They did a great job, which made me more nervous. When I got on the stage, I didn’t present well. After a few minutes, I was not that nervous anymore. I was getting better; moreover, I even looked at the audience while I was talking. After finishing the presentation, I felt relaxed. Maybe I didn’t do a wonderful job, but at least I had learned a lot of things. For example, I have to face the audience while I present the photos. If I have one more chance, I hope that I can do it better next time!

Today our team is giving a presentation to different classes. We are excited but nervous. It is probably because we have expected it for a long time.

The part I am responsible for is the Activity Highlights. Our audience should be able to understand our research by looking at the pictures on each slide.

There were a lot of people sitting in the classroom. I was too nervous to explain thoroughly. I felt embarrassed after finishing the first one, so the following presentation didn’t go smoothly either. Finally, we all returned to the lab and discussed how everyone performed on the stage. Speaking of my performance, I admitted that I wasn’t well-prepared. In fact, I had plenty of time to prepare today’s presentation; however, I had too much confidence in myself that I ended up not rehearsing it enough.

"No pain, no gain." I have learned that from today's experience. If I get the chance to give the presentation again, I will definitely work harder on it.

On the afternoon of January 15th, we were ready to introduce Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps (TRMPC) to everyone. At that time, I was very nervous when I saw my classmates staring at us, while sitting under the stage. My mind was completely blank. When it was my turn, I looked at everyone who was standing on the stage. My heart almost jumped out of my chest. That was how nervous I was.

The person I introduced was the founder of the TRMPC, Dr. Chi-Chun Liu. I was happy because I saw everyone under the stage concentrating on my report. After my first-time presenting the experience, I was getting used to it. I wasn’t that nervous anymore when I went into the other classes.

We went back to the computer room after we finished all the presentations. The teachers started to give us some feedback on our performances. They told us what we could improve on and what we did well. I wasn’t satisfied with my performance, either. I made many mistakes while I was reading because I was too nervous on the stage. I hope I could correct my mistakes, and then I wouldn’t have to be nervous on the stage.

This experience made me feel confident, braver and less shy. I hope I still have the chance to do better next time.
