Medical Action Reflections

Chia-Hsuan Wu

This time the TRMPC was going to offer the medical service in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu. The volunteers of the TRMPC had already set off early Friday morning. It was really hard for me to get up. Saturday morning we followed the steps of the TRMPC to Wufeng Township. We gathered together at our school first, and then we departed for Wufeng.

We took the school bus and went to Huayuan elementary school in Wufeng. The campus is not very big, but there are quite a lot of doctors and volunteers waiting to offer their medical service. First, the nurse explained a lot of medical knowledge to us such as dental care, how to do CPR and we actually carried out CPR. I was deeply impressed by the detailed introduction of medical knowledge that allowed us to get an in depth understanding.

Miss Chen allowed us to experience the basic process of the clinic, including: registration, exam blood pressure and body temperature. It was the first time I got to exam blood pressure in my life! Dr. Xu also introduced the oral medical vehicle to us. All of the dental equipment is in the vehicle. I was surprised that there were only two vehicles in Taiwan and the TRMPC has one of them.

The volunteer shared a lot of wonderful stories about the TRMPC and the stories moved us. Finally, lunch time was coming, in fact, the volunteers who made these dishes were not professional chefs, but the taste was very delicious.
This journey has taught me a lot. I hope that in the future, I can contribute to society just like the volunteers at the TRMPC.

On January 13th, we gathered at school early in the morning. We were so excited to join this medical action with the TRMPC. We set off to Huayuan elementary school in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County. On the way to the mountain, the sky was hazy, the weather was cold, but I felt that we were in paradise.

After arriving at the destination, the volunteers at the TRMPC taught us how to do CPR and asked us to experience it ourselves. Then Dr. Xu, the dentist, showed us how to brush our teeth correctly. Finally, the volunteers led us to visit the process of the medical service. The process was just as nice as the normal clinic or hospital. In addition, we also visited the pharmacy, the inspection office, and so on. I was surprised that the TRMPC offered the hair-cut service. Although the volunteers are not professional, they are still very skillful. I really admire them.

At noon we went to Huayuan elementary school for lunch. The meal was so tasty. Miss Chen told us that volunteers who were in charge of the kitchen were not chefs. They learned how to cook for the TRMPC. The volunteers in the TRMPC are great.

Time passed quickly, and I didn't want to leave so soon. I learned a lot of medicine knowledge and got to understand more about the TRMPC in this medical action. I hope that I have a chance to join the TRMPC in the future. I would like to thank the teachers for taking us to experience this medical action.

Today, we are going to participate in the medical service with the TRMPC in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu. Early in the morning, we departed from our school for Wufeng. The traffic was smooth on the highway, probably because it was Sunday. After about an hour we arrived at the foot of the mountain and took a break at a convenience store.
The road the bus drove on snaked away into the mountain. Soon after, we arrived at Huayuan elementary school.

Miss Chen warmly received us, and then asked the nurse to teach us how to do CPR. Next, the dentist, Dr. Xu, explained the precautions for brushing our teeth. At the end Dr. Xu started a trivia game, and everyone worked very hard to answer the questions. Base on this game, I learned more medical knowledge and I also got prizes for answering correctly.

After a short break, Miss Chen took us visited the various departments at the medical services, including internal medicine, dentistry, laboratory, etc., and we also took a tour in the oral medical vehicle. It is a very special vehicle just like a moving clinic. It is well equipped. Finally, Uncle Qiu of the TRMPC told us the story about the TRMPC, which was touching.

I learned a lot from this medical action with the TRMPC. The volunteers who work in the TRMPC aren't paid. Regarding me, I feel blessed to live in an area where medical resources are developed. I should be more grateful for the life I have.

January 13th, we joined the medical action with the TRMPC. It took about an hour and a half to drive to the destination. I saw the clouds and mists cover the mountain on the way. When the sun shined then the clouds and the mists got scattered. It turned into a beautiful landscape. Once we had arrived, the members of the TRMPC were already waiting for us there, and the residents in the vicinity had also waited for the medical services.

Miss Chen, the volunteer of the TRMPC, welcomed us warmly. We donated three boxes of magazines to the company's reading service. The physicians and nurses introduced their services to us. First, the nursing teacher taught us how to do CPR. Secondly, Dr. Xu told us how to brush the teeth correctly, and also gave us toothpastes and toothbrushes! Teacher Hung was sick, so she became our temporary patient to receive blood pressure, body temperature test, etc. Next, Miss Chen took us on a tour around the entire area.

We visited to the Department of Rehabilitation. Teacher Yen had a spine injury from high school, so he turned into Dr. Uncle Bear's patient to experience the adjusting of whole bone medical treatment. Teacher Yen felt better after the treatment. Finally, we followed the members of the TRMPC to Huayuan elementary school for dining. After this event, I learned more about the TRMPC, and I also realized how happy I was to be born in an area with adequate medical resources.

Today, the teachers took us to Huayuan elementary school in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County to participate in the medical action with the TRMPC. As soon as we went up the mountain, it fogged up. Although the weather was wet and cold, we still felt very excited because we were going to join this meaningful event, it was a very rare experience to us.

At the beginning, the nurse taught us how to carry out CPR on a mannequin, and then she asked us to rotate, so everyone got a chance to try. When it was my turn, I was very nervous because this was my first time doing CPR. Next, the dentist gave us a brief introduction to dental care and the way to brush the teeth properly. After a break, we took a visit around the medical process. The first stop we came to was the registration area, just like a normal hospital, we must weigh ourselves, exam blood pressure and body temperature, and then fill in the information. We saw each subject according to the needs.

There were three physicians, three nurses, and two prospective physicians in the Department of Internal Medicine. Then we went to the pharmacy, the pharmacist kindly reminded that the patient should take medicine on time and shouldn't drink milk, grapefruit juice, alcoholic beverages and cola while taking the pills.
We visited the oral medical vehicle. I was surprised that the vehicle was so well equipment and it was just like a moving dental clinic. The vehicle is small but has many details. There are only two oral medical vehicles in Taiwan, and one of which belongs to the TRMPC.

At last, we visited the donating area for storing the second-hand books and clothing. Although the donation materials had been used, the receivers still cherished the items.
This time, I was able to learn a lot of medical knowledge and understand the hard work of the TRMPC. The volunteers at the TRMPC have to leave at 3 o'clock in the morning for the destination. In the future, I want to help populations in need similar to the TRMPC because it is more blessed to give than to receive.

On January 13th, we set off on Sunday morning to Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County. In order to understand the medical service of the TRMPC, I had been looking forward to this medical action since last week. Before departing, we went to the library to collect books for donating to the TRMPC.

We took the school bus to the destination. There was no traffic jam on the highway, but there was a mountain road to open after the next interchange. Therefore, we took a break at the convenience store at the foot of the mountain, and then we set off for Wufeng Township. Halfway through the drive, the mountain road began to fog. The more the car went up, the stronger the fog appeared, and we felt like we came to, the paradise on the earth.

After arriving at the destination, we started to experience how to do CPR. Next, the dentist gave us some tips on dental care when we brushed the teeth. Miss Chen took us to visit the medical areas. The procedure was the same as the general clinic. There was the registration desk, internal medicine, examination, rehabilitation and so on. Teacher Yen experienced the treatment in the rehabilitation department. We thought Teacher Yen should feel very painful while the treatment, but he said it was very comfortable, which surprised us! In addition, we visited the oral medical vehicles, only two in Taiwan, one belonged to the TRMPC.

Finally, Uncle Xiaoqiu told us the story about the TRMPC. I gained much from this medical event. Although I spent the weekend to join this medical action, it was worthy and fun!

Today we participated in the medical services of the TRMPC in Wufeng Township in Hsinchu. Before starting the journey, we went to the library first to pick books for donating to the TRMPC. Then we headed to Huayuan elementary school in Wufeng. On the way to Wufeng, fog floated on the road. The mountain was surrounded by clouds. It was real beautiful scenery.

Upon arrival, Miss Chen had waited for us and received us warmly. After greeting, Nurse Tsai of the TRMPC taught us how to do CPR on a mannequin, and she then asked us to practice one by one, which was quite interesting! Next, Dr. Xu showed us the correct way to brush our teeth.

After a break, the teachers took us to look at the process of the consultation. The first stop we came to was the registration area. Just like the normal hospital's process, the patients had to be weighed, get their blood pressure exams, body temperature measured, filled the form... and so on.

There are only two oral medical vehicles in Taiwan, and we had the opportunity to visit one of them. The vehicle is not very big on the outside, but the inside of it the same as the dental clinic, but it can move. The last stop, we came to was the room where that stored the second-hand books and clothing that someone donated. Although the donations were used, the receivers cherished it. The free medical services are very meaningful to me. This medical action inspired me to help the needy populations in the future just like the TRMPC.
