Lin Yiying: It seems that the elderly just the "long-term care", for the elderly is to be taken care of, that is a burden or with many problems.But I also feel that if the elderly not lie down, in fact, they still have a lot of vitality can be created.So I would say in addition to take care of them than there are any opportunities for the elderly to come out. Just in 2006 when I went to the mainland to see the old man go through eight thousand miles of walking, and the elderly in Japan went from Osaka to Tokyo, go over one thousand kilometers road. At that time I thought that Taiwan is small so that we can walk around it. We can let the old man walk around the island, but not sure the elders like it or not.when I back to Taiwan randomly asked some elders, they said we have to participate if you hold this activity.

Dreamers:You can share with us about the process of preparing for it?

Lin Yiying: preparations are very difficult, just from the start ,the fund-raising was made by ourselves. We need to talk to people about such programs, and most people will be very surprised, that it would it be too dangerous or how to do that We originally wanted to bring fifteen elders roundabout, as a matter of fact that time enrollment is over 100 people, more people than we imagine, thus we found that the elders want to walk around because they said they lived in the island of Taiwan, but without chance to walk around it. A very difficult start, fund-raising is difficult, it is hard to raise volunteers, we spent two years prospecting routes, making travel arrangements.

Dreamers: during the traveling, is there anything impressive thing happened in Knight

Lin Yiying: two weeks ago before we travel around the island, the National Police issued a document to us, we have to apply the right of way, without it we can not around the island. But it is difficult to apply the right of way through every cities and counties. The remaining less than two weeks, we had no time to apply. On this matter made us nervous before. It is not wasted for we prepared well and can not proceed. So it was hectic before we actually want to proceed because we need to deal with a sudden require also make sure the equipment is ready or not . We proceed from the Taichung City Government, about less than ten kilometers to ride,the head felt discomfort that we found his body is not very good, they took him to tour for rest, he said just take a break would be fine, but I think he was uncomfortable, so our caregivers say to take he to the hospital. Then we just call an ambulance to take him to the hospital. We should handle with many situations temporary. when we ride arrived in Changhua, the scene is very High, like a hero received a warm welcome. At noon we dine inside, I usually ask them to go to sleep, but they are really too happy to sleep, thus later I forced them to rest on the car at noon the next day. Every time I see the documentary, I feel that they did not have slept, and later in a very tense state.

Dreamers: We would like to ask that in this process, is there any more details not be known by the outside.

Lin Yiying: In addition to the hard preparation, when we had to do this activity, the core values of the activity is very important. The elderly do not equivalent to disability, they not just need long-term care, so I think we should help one or two people out, but let the old man come out is a big difficulty that the public would think it would be too dangerous or any accident may take place.I had at the time thinking that around the island is feasible, the head when he was the first to agree, he said: This activity is very good, you have to do, I asked him why, he said: You have not lived eighty years old, you do not know my sadness and pain. Many people have heard my eighty-year-old said: do not move, do not come out recently, do not do things,and just sit there, it seems the elderly is useless. So he said, you have to take us out and let you see the eighties is not to say there is no use, eighties, or you can do something, if I was with the elderly around the island, but to travel in fact, this activity does not sense big, because tourism is actually a dream, but I also want to let the welfare of this activity should be developed, so when we say that the point is to design around the island to the other nursing home care for the elderly, I think this is the content of the activities he is not a tourist, he is a charity trip, he will inspire more people to encourage more elderly or allow the public to see the old man is not no use. Dreamers: what’s the core of the spirit of the “ not old knight” in your mind.

Lin Yiying: “not old Knight” is Actually allows us to see that the old man is still able to be creative and pursue their dreams, just like the universities outstanding teaching programs for young people that will build nurturing excellence in teaching many students plan to nurture talent.In the old side, it becomes care plan, no one seems to do excellent plan for the elderly, or the elderly outstanding personnel training plan.After finishing “the not old knight”, we found we should believe the elderly, and can give them the opportunity to create for their strong willing. That is the largest power source for me to do the elderly services. Recently the not old captain work as a cashier in seven eleven, which seemed with simple challenges but they worked hard on it. From this old man , you see they are very grateful to cherish the moment, if they have these opportunities, they can play out the effect of the benefit. If we do not have this opportunity to let them out, they might watch TV at home, it is very normal, but when you give him a chance, their creativity is really great, not just a documentary, they have books and picture books, also being invited to go around the world and hope that they can share experiences. “ the not Old knight” owned the vitality and creativity who allows us to see the human vitality is infinite, your life will not end when you are old.
