Xiao Wan Yu   Name: Xiao Wan Yu Nick names: Angela Birthday: 1996.9.23 Constellation: Libra Hobby: Drawing, watching TV, sleeping, eating Professional specialty: Drawing, sleeping   Personal Introduction I am Wan Yu. I'm a person difficult to get along with. One of my classmates ever said to me: 'You are a nitpicker.' Being very careless, I often can't get perfect score in the examination because of making a small mistake. And I often feel like to commit suicide when I see my examination paper. (Joke) I am very lively, but seem too lively. I often laugh so much that I just like a breakdown machine, and don't know how to stop laughing. In fact, even I do not understand my personality. Anyway, just one word can describe me, 'strange '.   Gains of Research In the beginning, while hearing the teacher told me about this match, like the other team members, I also thought it was a piece of cake. And because of such silly thought, I joined this team, and began the first difficult task in my life. But I would not think it an easy task any more. From the time I promised to participants in the competition, I started to sink into a very deep mire and could not get out from it at all! Everything was smooth, as what I thought, in the beginning. Because what we did in the beginning was only meetings, writing the gains and getting out to visit the factories. The real devil started from the moment that teacher required us to arrange data during winter vacation. On first day, I felt I could handle the tasking of arranging data. However, from the next day, I felt it was getting tougher and tougher because I had never sit in front of a computer and kept typing for such a long time. Besides, in order to make perfect articles, we needed to brainstorm together. This really made me feel tired out! Although we already worked for four days in winter vacation, it seemed that our teacher was not satisfied because he asked us to go to school on February 3. This really tormented me, and my brains almost couldn't work anymore. But anyway, since it's my decision, I had to face this five - days ' devil working '. Since some classmates had to go to cram school, and some were unable to come over to team worked with us because of family's factors, there are only four or five classmates were working together in these five days. Therefore, we felt we almost dying because of the busy work. The strangest thing was that all of we were inclined to say the same phrase unconsciously, ' I would never participate in this team if I know it's so difficult!' This phrase really reflected what we thought in mind. Though we suffer the pain together during this period, but I know 'They that sow in tears shall reap in joy '. Therefore, I was sure to be more diligent than before. Though we have not known whether we can gain the fruit of award yet, I think I have already had four ripe and sweet fruits. Firstly, I learned the spirit of teamwork. Secondly, through the competition, I have further understanding on the specialty of our hometown -the socks. Thirdly, because of participated in this competition, I am not fear of dealing with the crowd again, besides I knew how to interview a stranger, too. Fourthly, I would like to express my gratitude to the teacher for give me a chance to participate in this competition. This chance allowed me to learn much knowledge and abundant my life.   Progress Report Date Place Content 97.12.4 English classroom Today, We discussed the details regarding the visit of 'Guava-Hosiery Festival in Shtou' on 12/6 and also the job assignment during noon break in English classroom. I have not been to the guava market for a long time. Since this is the annual ' festival of the guava, it must be very bustling. I was really looking forward to the coming of this day. 97.12.6 Guava market of Shetou This afternoon, we come to guava market together and we soon experienced the happy atmosphere as soon as entered the fair. The scale of guava festival this year was almost the same with the one in last year: the same jam-packed crowds and the same numerous stands. Many stands were selling socks. There were socks with plenty of designs and patterns. You could hear people peddled here and there, it was really bustling! Then we divided into two teams and began to interview in each stand on by one. Because I am very timid, so the interviewing speed of our team was behind a lot than the other teams. At last, I encouraged myself to start to interview several stands, and fortunately, it went very smoothly. Finally, both of our two teams come to HiaoTex Enterprise and SAN HO FANG HOSIERY CO., LTD. The first stand was HiaoTex Enterprise. The general manager of HiaoTex introduced the newest products, Air cushion socks, to us. He also told us a lot of knowledge about socks. Later on, we visited SAN HO FANG. The boss of SAN HO FANG also showed a lot of socks to us, such as far infrared ray, nanometer, and no-mark socks, etc. The boss was so serious that he didn't stop during his introduction. After finished interviewing these two companies, we went home. Today I really learned a lot from the conversation of interviews. The interviewees told me the sales skills and the variety of the socks. 97.12.26 Meeting room Today, we had a meeting in the meeting room at noon to discuss job assignment, including writing, interviewing, and video recording, photographing, etc. The teacher said everybody should have two jobs at least. I felt I was unlucky today for I was assigned to the group of writing. But fortunately, I was assigned to the group of recording later. Recording is really very easy. 98.1.6 Meeting room Today we discussed the details of visiting HsiaoTex Enterprise on 1/7, including pick up issue and how to have lunch, etc. The teacher told us this time we would visit the production procedure of the socks in HsiaoTex Enterprise. But, since there is no boarding and dyeing process in HsiaoTex, so we need to arrange another schedule to visit the boarding and dyeing factory. 98.1.7 HsiaoTex Enterprise Today, all of our team members come to HsiaoTex to visit the production procedure of the socks.The person who explained for us is the general manager of HsiaoTex Enterprise. He is also the president of parents meeting of our school. In the beginning, all of us sat in the meeting room listening to the president's explanation. Later on we went to visit the drafting room, warehouse of yarn, and packing area, etc. Among them, I was deeply impressed by the warehouse where they storage yarn because the space inside is so big that it can storage a huge quantity of yarn. The scene is really spectacular when the yarn with numerous quantity and bright colors is put together In addition; a classmate found that a piece of paper is being stuck on the shelf written with the name of different makers. With this label, the warehouse keeper can distinguish and find out the yarn they want quickly. If I didn't visit the production procedure here, I would never know the complicated production process of sock. 98.1.15 Meeting room This afternoon, some of our team members would go to three places, including boarding factory, dyeing factory, and ' Chang Wa Guan'. The first station is boarding factory. They divide their production process into two areas, artificial and machinery areas. The first area is artificial area. There were many aunties busy working inside. All of them have quick movements. The step in machinery boarding area is much easier than the artificial area: only slipping socks and drawing up socks are more difficult. The president allowed us to experience slipping socks in both artificial and machinery boarding areas. After we experienced, we realized slipping socks is really difficult: we need careful operation in artificial area; however, we need not only careful operation but also fast tempo in the mechanical part. How difficult it is. The second station was dyeing factory. Soon after we entered the factory, we smelled a thick dyeing pharmaceutical. The smell is really disgusting. Besides, before entering the factory, we saw a car parked on the square loading with the just dyed socks. These socks were dyed already and would be sent to boarding factory. Then we went to see the process of dyeing. Each dye vat was such a big one! Inside the vat, several bas were' rolling '. All the bags needed to be dehydrate after dyed. There are a lot of wizards in the factory, operating loudly and noisy. Besides, in this factory, they also have Sewing up area, so we also visit that area. The stitch machine is a magic machine because you just need to input socks, the trousers socks will be completed and sent out. And then we go to the second floor, where is the area of artificial sewing up. If the customer likes the trousers socks made by hand, they will place the order to the manufacturer. Later on the president introduced a kind of very magical paper to us, named ' print transfer paper '. So long as spread the paper on trousers socks, the pattern will be transferred to trousers socks. The third stop is ' Chang Wu Guan'. But it took us much time to reach 'Chang Wu Guan' because we got lost! A woman guest was selecting the goods in 'Chang Wa Guan'. After we interviewed her, we knew she is selling socks on the internet. This guest was very kind and answered all the questions we asked. Her cooperation really helped our interview go well. Later on, we went to visit the shopkeeper's wife right away. The shopkeeper's wife recommended a kind of socks named ' the copper silk socks ' to us. This kind of socks can deodorize. It's specially designed for the person who has Athlete's Foot. After that I asked a question' what is wholesale price? '. I never know this before. Certainly, the shopkeeper's wife explained what the wholesale price is, and I really appreciated her help. When we almost finished the visit in the Chang Wa Guan, we went home. Today, we went two factories and an entity shop and we learned a lot of knowledge. I think it would take us a long time to digest this knowledge. 98.1.19 Watching and Listening classroom Dyeing the socks! After visiting the production course of the socks, the teachers decided to let us experience dyeing the socks. All the students of sixth grade were assembled in the watching and listening classroom with holding a pair of socks. Although I had no confidence with my work, I still hoped it would be a good product. In a couple of days, when I saw my work, well, it's not bad. 98.1.21 6-2 Today was the first day of winter vacation; however we had to work on the tasks of 'GlobalSchoolNet. I guessed because today was just the first day, so the work loading was not much today, and we didn't feel tired. Through the training today, I realized that we need to prepare so many things to produce web page. It's really a complicated task. My brain is full of so much information. Today's job was very easy, and I hoped it would be the same in following days. 98.1.22 Socks Auction This afternoon, we come to visit Socks Auction. The Socks Auction lied in the deep of a lane. After we got off the car we saw there is a case rounded by a piece of wood, saying: 'one NT dollar for one sock'. And all the socks were almost sold out when we saw this case. No sock could be matched to a pair; they might be bought to make socks babies. There were so many socks there. The teacher asked us to look for special socks. We finally found 'two toe socks'. I thought it is specially designed for Japanese, isn't it? After we listened to the introduction, and took pictures, we went home. Today I saw a lot of different socks and this experience really broaden my vision. 98.1.22 98.1.23 98.1.24 6-2 We were very busy these three days. I had never had this kind of experience. The tasks seemed never end. We only could take rest while having a meal at noon, not saying take a nap. I felt so tired that I want to take a nap in front of a computer desk. 98.2.3 98.2.4 98.2.5 98.2.6 98.2.9 6-2 February 3 is the day of our school activity named ' planned of hand in hand '. Since we had to participate in school's activity, I really wished we didn't need to keep working for the task of 'GlobalSchoolNet'. The school's activity was carried out for five days, so did the task of 'GlobalSchoolNet'. I felt blue with this. As expected, we were really crazy busy in these five days! It was really painful in the last few days. I kept sitting in front of the computer all the time, keeping typing the article, looking for the materials, handling layout ceaselessly. My eyes were really tired. I thought these five days should be the busiest days since we participated in this competition. 98.2.10 6-2 Today is Day to return to school. I was wondering whether the teachers would ask to stay to work or not? One of our team member and I were praying when teachers were discussing. But, since both of us are not Christian, our pray didn't be heard by God. Anyway, I was getting used to this kind of life since I had experienced it for a while. So I was sure to be more diligent and I hope we could win the award since we worked so hard. 98.2.16 Computer classroom Today was Monday. After Had the lesson in the whole morning, I thought I could take a nap during noon break. But I was shocked while a classmate informed me that we needed to go to the computer classroom after a moment. My happy day died out again because of the teacher's cruelty, 98.2.17 Computer classroom As usual, we were assembled in the computer classroom to key in the report. I checked every detail of my reports and correct all the wrong words conscientiously. But when I finished, I found I forgot to do some progress reports at all, so have to make use of transient time left to type some progress reports. Unfortunately, I still could not finish it. If I should have known, I should key in all the progress report first, and then I didn't need to stay at school to finish this job tomorrow afternoon.       Luen Ya Primary School.
