Truku was
reconed as an ethnarch in Taiwan
on 14 Jan. 2004, before when, it
was regarded as a branch of
Atayal that consists of two
groups, one being Yaiyayazu (now
located in Ilan, Taipei, Taoyuan,
Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, and
Nantou) and the other Sediq. The
latter has three branches,
including Truku, Tgdaya, and
Tuda. Truku Tribe is actually
the Truku that disperses family
members in Renai Township (Songlin,
Lushan and Jingguan), Hualien
County Shioulin Township,
Wanrong Township, Chosi
Township, and Ji-an Township (Qingfeng,
Nanhua, and Fuxing), after
experencing natural migration of
past generations and forced
migration in Japanese
occupation.
