Since my instructor selected me to participate in the Taipei 101 research
project, I have gone through series of trainings, including Fantastic
9 orientation, interviewing foreigners, the general public, Taipei 101
shops, and Architect Chong-Ping Wang, visiting 101 observation deck, moon
watching on Taipei 101, writing childrenˇ¦s poetries, and interviewing
President Hong-Ming Lin and Chairwoman Diana Chen.
The project involved intensive work. However, time past by quickly; it
has already been 6 months since we started the project. It seems like
yesterday that we were still interviewing the shops at Taipei 101.
I am glad to have participated in the Taipei 101 project. Although I regretted
having accepted the offer sometimes, all the unhappiness disappeared whenever
I see my best friends.
Everything that happened during the process, either tears or laughter,
felt like a great experience. Though there were times when I got stuck
on the learning sheets, my team members would help me with it and give
me lots of support.
During the 5 days of summer camp, I had to wake up early. But I can never
wake up on time. I would turn off the alarm clock and go back to sleep.
My mom always had to drag me off the bed and wake me from my dreams. It
upset me having to wake up so early. I always complained to myself for
not being able to take a break for a while. After all, it was summer break!
But for some reason I became very energetic every time I finish brushing
my teeth. I no longer felt sleepy.
Although sometimes I feel reluctant, I never felt frustrated. It felt
like I was destined to complete this Taipei 101 project so I was very
committed.
The next day after the 5-day summer camp ended, I started feeling bored.
I spent the following days playing with my computer, watching TV, and
reading books. I lived the same routine everyday. Before I knew it, I
was starting to miss the life doing the Taipei 101 project.
We picked out one day to interview Mr. Hong-Ming Lin. Mr. Lin was very
nice. During our interview, he even told us many touching stories. After
the interview, he even took us to the observation deck and experience
how smooth the speedy elevator travels. It felt great!
We had trainings the following 2 days. We had athletic meeting the first
day morning. The Fantastic 9 were asked to take pictures with the principal
after the meeting, and then meet at Jun-Chengˇ¦s house at 1:30 pm. Just
around 1 pm, my mom was coming down with a headache, so I stayed home
with my mom and did not go to Jun-Chengˇ¦s house. Jun-Chengˇ¦s dad taught
me a great tip; he told me to go on MSN instant messaging and write 3
childrenˇ¦s poetries at home. My mom then took me to Jun-Chengˇ¦s house
around 4 in the afternoon. When I got there, I was shuffled with a bunch
of work. I had to work on 2 Taipei 101 drawings, think of 5 questions
to ask Ms. Diana Chen the following day, and 10 questions regarding Taipei
101. Still, I managed to finish them all.
There was a stair climbing contest at Taipei 101 the following morning.
Jun-Chengˇ¦s dad was one of the participants. While he was running, we
went up to the 59th floor to interview Ms. Diana Chen. We waited a long
time for her to show up. Ms. Chen looked different today. She usually
wears black dresses or suits, and has her hair tied up. But she was wearing
shirts today and had her hair tied up in a pony tail. The interview was
fast because she only had 30 minutes to spare in her busy schedule.
Being able to take part in this Taipei 101 research project is the greatest
achievement I have ever done in my life. (Si-Ning)
